Can anyone let me know about the waitlist procedure. Are there any 4 kinds of list( as in Spot offer, not recommneded, merit list and waitlist) or 3 kinds of list (Spot Offer,NR and waitlist).
Please clarify the same. I have waitlist no 29.Please tell what are the chances of convert. Is this waitlist for the students who did not get the spot offers( say 125 ppl) or apart from total 170 students MICA is going to admit.

There are 3 lists at the post micat - ge/pi stage : spot offers, rejects and merit list.

Post ge/pi - the current list comprises of accepts , waitlists and rejects from those who were on the merit list.

HI seniors...I am one of the people who got a spot offer...
I was going through the site and have not been able to glean the placement statistics for the current outgoing batch...
Can anyone please shed some light on this?

Also I am a bit confused regarding the type of profiles being offered (I saw the broad spectrum of companies right from citi financial to bbc coming to recruit!)....

You will have to wait for the official report to be out for getting any data about placements. However, let me tell you that the lowest, mean and highest packages depend a lot on your super specialisations.

Those who get into account planning typically get a lower package relative to other specialisations. That is because the ad agencies dont pay much.

Next is media which pays relatively more than advertising but usually lesser than Market research and brand management.

the companies hire micans for various profiles from account planning, brand manager within ad agencies and media firms, business analysts, corp comm, sales, marketing, consultants et al. A lot of times the same company offers diff profiles to diff candidates.

You got it right. People who were on the merit list post ge/pi, get sorted into three categories - converts, waitlists and rejects.

try and balance the aspects of being fun and open to diff things to being passionate about your interests/goals.
it could be absolutely abstract like striking up conversations with strangers to post grunge music.

this is an excellent way to leave interesting pointers to make ur interview biased towards what you want to talk about and what picture of yourself you wish to paint for them.

Although i'd suggest that don't come across to be too opinionated or judgemental.

you will be free by 8pm but to make it to the airport by 7pm you've to leave for the airport by 5-5:30pm max. you may not be free by then. last year, some of us who got done wid ge and pi early, were allowed to leave the campus if they trains/flight to catch. But i cant speak for this yr. also, you won't get to know the results. you will have to ask someone who wud be staying back to let you know if you got a spot offer/ merit listed or a spot reject.

ge prep - i personally went with zilch prep. try to be creative and practical (there is a time constraint) while picthing ur ideas to your grp. and play the rules of team dynamics. don't be too dominating.

for pi - brush your basics, if you are frm bba, mass comm, bcom, literature, economics etc background. engineers are typically not grilled on past acads.
know ur resume inside out and be prepared to face all sorts of questions.
know abt current affairs, have a few good films, books etc to quote when u talk abt smthing. be a lil aware of good marketing or advertising campaigns, which agency created em etc.
read up basics on marketing, media, advertising (wikipedia will do).

rest, interviews are typically very chilled out and everybody comes out smiling thinking they have nailed it. :cheerio:

my gd-pi is on april 10th at 7:45, firstly are there two slots or only one at 7:45 ?
secondly, how long does it take from the airport to the campus ?
thirdly, how long will the whole procedure take ?

(coming from hyd...anybody from hyd same slot plz pm me)

1) there are 4-5 interviews that go on simultaneously in diff panels. i am guessing that is what u asked about.
2) anywhere b/w 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs depending on traffic and time of the day.
3) ge - 30 mins
pi - 10 to 40 mins (time not being an indicator of performance)
7-8pm in the evening until the results are declared.

are we suppose to bring thm on the int date... i mean if i'll remove my markshhets frm my portfolio it will provide an extra space fr my other certificates... also i few markshhets are nt issued by the university so i hav to make a run fr it... plzz do reply... thnx a ton...

last year i did drag all of my documents for the ge/pi. Although I didn't hear of anybody who needed to show their certificates, but it always looks good if you carry it. Esp, if you are a writer or a photographer, carry some of your work in your folder and show it during the interviews if it comes up.

There will be a verification of your certificates on the initiation day of your term 1 at mica.

1) You can book a 9:30pm flight. you'll be free by 7-7:30pm max.
2) it takes around an hour and half to 2 hrs depending on traffic.
3) we have several auto wallahs who ply back and forth from mica. You'll have to contact some senior and get their phone nos. so that you can fix a time for them to pick u up from mica or airport.

1) What should be there in SOP of MICA
2)What kind of questions do they ask in PI because i guess MICA PI will be a bit different from the rest MBA's PI
3)What kind of GE do they give?
4)Does the final result announced on the same day?

1) MICA likes people who are passionate and are interesting people. Try and find out what makes you stand out and write about it. Be yourself, be honest. Also, whatever you write should fit in with what MICA is. It is not an advertising or marketing B school. It deals with communication management which also comprises of advertising, media , market research and marketing.
Also remember, how much ever MICA likes bloggers, this place doesn't have courses on content writing.

2) PI involves Questions about you. You can absolutely lead the interviews by leaving a trail of interesting details which could make the interviewer follow your lead.
Read about MICA and know it well. Go through the brochure and know the course offerings. It helps to know a lil about MICA alumni as well.
Know a lil about advertising, media, marketing. Wikipedia should do.
And remember, never never never pfaff using terms or jargons you don't understand. You'll be digging your own grave, if you do so.

3) Interesting and diff stuff everytime. Basically play on the rules of team spirit and being a good team player. Don't be a bully, neither be too shy. If you see that the group is ignoring/cutting out a particular member, you can always encourage that person to speak up.

4) A few spot offers (last year they ranged from 2 to 12 in a single day)
Merit List - people who would come to know later if they have been chosen or waitlisted.
Reject List - Spot rejects.
