how is the specialist officer exam useful for people with >= 2 years experience ? if they apply for level 2 , there are really few vacancies ..cut off high .if they apply for level 1, they almost make their previous work ex null plz explain

CAT/Current Job related Dilemma Queri...

Hello everyone....

I have 31 months of work ex in DRDO (govt. job) and earning around 65K a month in hand....My aim was always getting into ABC...but this year I have got through IIML but I am not sure whether I should go for it or not because of bleak placement scenario....I have pretty good academic profile with decent extra currics....Please suggest...Thanks in advance..!!

sb29 Some firms don't really look at the kind of work-ex you have as long as you have some workex. Some other firms look at only relevant work-ex. So, it varies a lot. But my batchmate who had DRDO experience and did ops specialization did get lateral placement in logistics. I don't know what he did in DRDO though.

abhimukh19 @musicfreakk there is no comparison , if you want do MBA , don't look at the CTC factor as of now , since it will be a career switch . But if you are happy in your job , MBA is something you should be very sure of before joining it

invban @musicfreakk I graduated as an MBA from DOMS IITR after 8 years of work ex in a PSU and got placed in a good IT Consulting group as a IT Project Manager .....though my previous work ex was in Marketing and sales ;what I believe and I have seen is that though PSU's and Govt Sectors are not considered "so happening" otherwise their Managerial capabilities (if they have done justice to their job ) are very good ........as regards IIML or A , B , C or ISB or Harvard its just a paper degree ........you and only you can make a difference in what extra you get out from the programme .....I have worked with ISB graduates , IIM A , B , L , K , I graduates during various Projects in IT and prior to that in the PSU job ....all I can tell you is some were exceptional and some were average .........

@abhimukh19 There is hardly any growth in my current job though I recently got promoted...it's a typical govt. job....A person can be happy only if he doesn't like to work...

musicfreakk @geekygirl Can you plz mention your friend is facing battle against which IIM and which govt. job he is working for....I had converted IIMK and IIMI in previous years but didn't join them...never regret it also....but since this time it's L which has almost made it to ABC league...It's forcing me to think...I always think 2 yr MBA is better for me as it will be a career switch for me.....

musicfreakk @geekygirl That's a tough one....When I had converted IIMK in my very first attempt of CAT...all my friends and family had put a lot of pressure to accept it...They said otherwise I will regret it for the rest of my life...I converted K and I in third attempt and again declined it...This year I have L and K convert...this was my fourth...
