Hope the preparations are going well!

I had a silly doubt. I was going through some websites and in one of those I found that 70%correct answers (out of 240) is quite enough for clearing CFA L1.

I just wanted to ask..... since there is no negative marking so everyone will answer 240 questions. But any idea how many questions to be answered correctly (generally they tell these things in Coaching classes;sorry I haven't joined any thats y asking here) to get into >70 percentile band??

Also answering 70%correctly and getting more than 70 percentile are two different things.

Also I am reading the material and doing the problems simultaneously thats why a bit behind as many people must have completed reading the material.

Can u guys suggests some standard question banks which has topic wise problems listed? I think it will be quite helpful.

why do we require the passport'? I mean what information from passport exactly is required for enrollment? I had applied for passport 2 months earlier (on 13.6.11) and ideally should have received it by now..but I am still waiting for it :-(. What if i obtain my passport number from passport office so as not to miss the second deadline on 24 august? Would that suffice? Or do i have to attach the xerox copy of same while enrollment? Urgent reply required...

u just need the passport number, date of issue and date of expiry (as far as i remember) for enrollment.....no xerox required at this stage

Indeed this part is too theoretical (and tends to be boring, if I may say so!) but it has special importance for passing , specially if one gets marks on margin in other section. ..... From feedbacks those who did so mostly got >70. Hope it helps you.

Thanks a lot bro.....it was indeed helpful.... I m reading the material but somehow i feel im not that confident in this part of syllabus..... I donno may be with time i will be able to befriend it....

Just wanted to know whether everyone has same feeling or else someone can suggest me a good strategy to tame this part?

too much of theories to handle....:banghead::banghead: n im finding it really boring.....:shock:
tell me some strategies to complete n master this part.......it has got the highest weightage......

I think all the finance people in lower grade MBA institutes go for CFA just to get at par with top institute finance people and its a very common phenomenon atleast in India. So I think it wont be that tough.

I dont agree.......even ppl from IIMs enroll for CFA.....also not all finance people enroll......See it is all about making career in some specific fields of finance...irrespective of the college (higher or lower grade) its all about where one wants to see himself after 10years down the line.

I got my study material on friday and the courier guy charged me 314 Rs extra for some octroi or customs. He gave me a octroi slip too so i think they might be charging this from everyone. Its also mentioned when you make fee payment that custom charges apply.

No, UPS courier didnot charge me anything extra.....

Im planning for writing L1 in december. I saw the fee structure. The last line says..." It is the candidate's responsibility to clear the package from customs."

I want to ask after paying Program Enrollment+exam registration+ print version ( shipping cost) which comes around a total of $ 1055, do i need to pay anything more as custom duty etc. ?? since most of you guys have already registered for june exam how much you had to pay??

I dont know who told u about this EVERYONE getting 6-7lakh......do chk this detail with your source of information......AFAIK its completely wrong......
Be a bit more responsible while posting such things......this thread will be read by aspirants in the future too and itcan really mislead them......

and one more thing what You guys are missing is that the Placement Stats given on their website is for PGDM+MMS combined......do chk with the college authorities regarding the actual figures for PGDM only......
