Can PUYS help me out here?? I have a 1 yr experience..
98.7 percentile this time.. and IIM U was the only call and covert!!

But I am really confused whether to join or not since this is a very new IIM??

Well to take it or not depends on the profile that you have. If you're into a very specific field which a General MBA wouldn't serve you can give it a skip. And if you're prepared to wait another year and give it another shot you can very well do that. If you have concerns about IIM U being a new setup, and if you don't wanna give it a shot next year you can pretty much apply to SP Jain's Global MBA program for the November intake. I'm pretty sure that you'd get thru it seeing your percentile.

If you are sure of getting a similar or better score in the next few years you might give it a skip this year. But it is a very dicey call my friend.

Puys;it might sound as an idiotic question but what are the chances for WL/2 to convert? This is my first experience so anybody who was waitlisted for some other IIM please share your experiences.

How much is the admission fee that we have to pay?

50 grands. No clue how much of it is refundable. Whatever amount might be refundable is refundable only till 14th June. After that we forfeit it.

Got the offer for IESEG today, currently 3rd in waitlist for ESB.

browsed a bit on the IESEG program:
The university has affiliations with many institutes, including IIM C, IIM L and XLRI, etc..( Partner Universities)
The university is recognised for Masters in Business and the MIB program appears a decent one. The MIB program also offers various specialisations like International HR, Finance, Intercultural management, etc.

my personal opinion: difference between ESB and IESEG programs: ESB has 3 month semester and 3 month master thesis; IESEG has 6 month semester and 2-6 months fulltime internship. IESEG being a private university appears to be more focussed on assisting students for internships resulting in job offers. Also English acceptability in both countries is different.

Website mentions the corporates/companies for internships.( Companies that we work with)

I have been working with TCS for 3.5 yrs, last year had a call for IMT. But this course appears different and lucrative in the long run. Plus the international exposure and internship is an addon. I am positive for both- ESB and IESEG. Will be joining for sure.

also as per my conversation with prof. Debashish, the IESEG offer is made to the next lot of students as per merit list for PGCIM interviews. this is the 2nd choice since they already had commitments with ESB and interviews were also taken by German profs.

Maybe this alliance with IESEG is very recent, hence this course was given a 2nd choice. Rest I feel this might just turn out a better option for us.(compared to ESB).

I had a call from IMT-G this year. I forewent it because I was doubtful about the returns from IMT-G. I've checked the average package for MIB from IESEG. It is somewhere around 32k Euros; half of ESB's package that SP Jain claims. Whats more, we don't have any statistics as to whether there will be assistance from SPJ if things don't go so well in these foreign courses. The worst part was that we were interviewed for ESB and on that basis we are being offered the IESEG course. The two colleges must be different. Without interacting with the students IESEG agreed to absorb all of us. I guess the reason for this would be that we're going to be the first batch. However, the first batch of ESB course was interview by the German profs I assume. Probably SPJ is rushing to fill up this course. Also there is hardly any information about the SPJ-IESEG partnership apart from the initial mailers that we'd received. We've a week to make an informed decision and just as I write this, there is a mail from Prof. Debasis giving information about the IESEG course. Honestly I find the information a bit lacking. I'd prefer to wait another year to get an idea of how the PGCIM partnerships are faring. The IESEG program sounds tempting but it is high risk investment. Some of the go-getters might tell me 'High risk, high gain' but I'm a purist and would like to wait and watch.

Me too.. I was not sure for ESB Germany also, and for IESEG I dont have any clue. We will be put in the Lille(rural) campus of IESEG, not the Paris one. Plus, no one has a clue about IESEG.
And all of us got the call on the basis of our interview with German college people. Can't imagine how serious is anyone about this course?

I have a call from IMT-G also. That looks like a safer bet to me.
So mostly not joining this course.

Even I'm skeptical for the very same reasons. The campus that we're gonna be put in is Lille and not the Paris one. The interview that was conducted was for ESB and we were told that there could be a second interview for this course. Now this sounds a bit dubious that we were shortlisted on the basis of the interview conducted for the German college. Maybe SPJ is rushing because this is going to be the first batch for this course.

The thing about this IESEG programme is that nothing has been mentioned about it. The mail hardly says much about the program, costs, accommodation, placements and I don't think there is any info on the SPJ website as well..

However, I don't think that choice should matter so much in the shortlisting process. Keep your chin up buddy. There should be people who might decline this course as well. Could be me as well. I'm apprehensive about this right now. Let me think over the weekend.
