No surprise Seeing I-I-P-M so high up on the rankings. Arindam Chaudhris Planman Company owns a stake in the times group so of course it was bound to be ranked high up on the list.
Someone should file a case about publishing advertisements which can mislead the public so blatantly.

Even if these rankings are based on perception is one expected to believe that recruiters prefer an I-I-P-M grad to an IIM grad.


Only problem is folks at home dont know about the real picture behind these rankings so they were a bit worried about my decision to pursue MBA from a B-school lower down on the list.

Its about time these fairness creams were banned from the Indian market. It makes absolutely no sense. To make it seem that a person should be fair in order to succeed in life just shows how inherently racist we are.

Our country was outraged when the Australia racist attacks happened but in every movie the word "firangi" is used in a racist manner for a white skin person and all Black skinned african people are looked at as if they were some other worldly creatures.

I remember this ad a few years back where this girl goes to apply for a job as a cricket commentator and she is rejected because she is dark. and then she applies some fairness cream and Voila! she is fair again and her life seems to be falling right into place.

My respect for SRK hass absolutely gone down ever since i have seen him in ads for fair and lovely and ****. It seems there is absolutely nothing the man wont do in order to make that extra crore.

See I agree with your point but as far as i think these questions are very trivial once you are entering into a B-school .It is not matter of being genius or no.There are better things to focus on .Also we have mentioned the gmail id : admission.gim2011@gmail.com to address such queries and people don't read before and post which doesn't add value to the people.And when you say it is adding value to a particular person,I am talking about the silent observers esp the waitlisters .They refer to this page again and again and get pissed off with such queries

Hostel establishment fees is for maintaining washrooms/electricity repairs /door breaks and etc .If you think GIM is charging extra for all this I believe GIM is charging very less i.e. 6lpa .And it is exclusive of your charges for food and all .

I didnt ask you regarding the charges because the charges were high. I am extremely happy with the GIM fee structure and i think it is reasonable. The reason i asked is because i would be applying for a loan soon and will need to account for how much would be my total expense over the 2 years.

Under the Fee structure there is a Room rent for single and double occupancy rooms. What is the hostel establishment fees that are also to be paid every semester ?? It was also written in the mail that one must plan for at least 4000 a month for meal charges. Is that inclusive of the above charges or separate ??

Its been a long wait for XIMB results thought i would post my IMT experience.

Was an extremely long wait for document verification. Dont know why they cant do all this once admissions starts. reached the venue at 12 PM and WCT started at 3 PM. The lady there sitting with a calculator was totaling the marks for 10th 12th grads and post grads for every student present there.

Interview lasted for about 10 minutes out of which 8 minutes was spent only on questions relating to academics.


I know my Chances for IMT-G are NIL and dont plan on joining any of the other IMTs. Wanted to experience the interview.

Initially everyone was dumb founded about what to say including myself. I started the topic along predictable lines. pitched in quite a few times.

Interview

Messed up my chances in the beginning itself when the panel rang the bell and i did not enter cuz i thought the bell was not for me. The prev guy had asked me to wait outside till they actually call me in. (had already entered without being called in a previous interview so thought should wait till they call). Finally the professor came out asking me why i was not coming in.

The panel Consisted of 3 professors

The interview was a real grill session.

I was a commerce grad and was pursuing my Chartered Accountancy.

Why MBA?
Next was the bombshell..

What is Fringe Benefit Tax ? answered
Why is it called fringe benefit tax?? why was the word fringe added?
Asked me some Tax rates on FBT. Couldnt remember most of them.

Then another professor stepped in

What are your hobbies?? Answered
What was the last movies you saw. Answered
What was the message of the movie. Answered but was not convinced
Explain a recent Accounting Scandal? Spoke About satyam
What was the name of Ramalinga Rajus sons Company? Thankfully remembered that one..

Who were the Auditors of Satyam?? Answered..
then Professor steps in " but they said they were not the auditors so who were the auditors then"

Who is the head of ICICI?? answered

Who is the md? Who is the CEO? who is the chairman?? was totally confused by then.... :banghead:

Who is the head of ICIC bank, ICICI insurance ICICI global head... ( wanted to run out of the room by now)

then another professor Steps in and asks me.." so you are doing CA? what is the oldest Firm in kolkata?? who is the oldesst CA in Kolkata??

Didnt know what to answer to all this...

Then the panel Thanked me...

Was disoriented once i stepped out of the room.... Took me a few minutes to regain my senses....

After this experience i am not holding high hopes for being selected....

Only a miracle can save me now.....

Has anyone here found out about the education loans offered by various banks. As far as i can see there is a difference of about .5% to 1% in the interest rates of various loans offered by banks.

If anyone here has done his research about which bank is offering the most beneficial education loans please share it.

This would be needed not only for GIM but for any other institute that one might be planning to join as well.

how is issue of bonus share affects the stock???

Issue of bonus shares affect the stock in quite a few ways. will try to explain a few of them ( assuming 1 bonus share issued for every 1 share held)

1. A share selling at Rs. 100 on the stock market would see a fall in its price
ie. theoretically if a share is priced at Rs. 100 before the bonus issue will fall to Rs.50 as the number of shares available on the market have increased with no real value addition.

2. The profit(dividends) per share should drop. If a company made a profit of Rs. 100 and had 10 shares in total then each share holder should have received Rs.10 each but on issue of bonus shares the number of shares becomes 20. Thus each shareholder receives Rs.5 per share.

Please remember that the above are all theoretical. Practically speaking the market never behaves this way. I have personally always noticed that post the issue of bonus shares the share price generally again reaches its pre-bonus issue prices.

Cant think of anymore at the moment but am sure there are more.
