Please anyone let know that I have experience of 40 months in IT sector. I was working with an MNC. Now i left the job due to personal reasons and now preparing for GMAT so I will take the exam with in six months then start applying to universities.
My query is - will there be any problem when I apply because i left the job and have only 40 months of exp. then took break and apply for colleges. Can that taking break stuff effect my admission in any good university.

Please let me know it will really be very helpful.

Actually the Visa rules and also effect of unemployment for their citizens and also i have researched a lot because initially i wanted to do my MBA from their only but if you can be able to get in London business school or Insead then it is good to go their otherwise i don't think so one should invest because about cost it is very costly 1 year exec MBA cost around 40-45 Lac there too same as US Europe not at all cheap and living cost is high too.
I am not sure about great lakes and about its repo. in market. if you know then tell me what is the rank worldwide?

One more thing as its been a month for me i am prep for GMAT.
if you just focus and get atleast 3 hours a day and weekend 7-8 hours .. you can still make it. don't now think about 2013 just atleast try for 2012 because Theory will take around 3 weeks complete. and then you can start working on weak areas for one week.
then start taking full length tests. do take tests full length before ur main exam at least 10 ok.

so that you will get to know how much u are scoring. and first work on accuracy then work on timing because it is very tough to maintain both in real gmat paper.
make schedule like that 1 month theory and enough practice then 15 or 20 days alternate full length test.
and when u book a gmat exam there is the test software in it you will get 2 mock test it is very useful and official so take those two just before around 5 days of your main exam. and thanks for wishing me luck. best of luck to you too.;)

Why is it difficult to find a job post European MBA? Is it because of the recession in Europe or is it generally the case. I actually never thought about MBA in europe but just yesterday somebody told me that Europe has one year mba and it is usually cheaper than US. have always wanted to go to Europe (for visiting though), this seems like a lucrative deal if I can find a nice place to study there. So, I am doing some research on that as well but am not able to understand why is it rated lower than the US.
Actually in most of the Canadian/US schools, the eligibility for exec MBA is to have atleast 8 years work ex out of which atleast 3 years should be at management level. I haven't reached that stage yet. So, exec MBA is not an option for me.
And you are right, you have time on hand. It is better to go to a good school even if you have to try more than once. Hopefully, you will get through this year itself. ISB is definitely a very good choice. Are you going to apply at Great Lakes? It is a new one opened Chennai. I am not sure about the placements but the website etc. have really high opinion of this school.
I will keep that Kaplan point in mind. I was planning my study schedule yesterday and keeping my work in mind, I am not sure if I will be able to put in so much effort for 1.5 months. I am going to try for a few days but if it doesn't works out then I guess I will have to go slow and finish GMAT by december and then apply for 2013 sessions instead of 2012.
Yeah .. you should visit Canada in summer .. winter is not the right time to be here. You can't go out much. Both Canada and US are beautiful, the thing is these places are well maintained. Once you do your MBA, I am sure you will get lot of chances to travel around the world.

yes you are right, that's why i am also preferring 1 year MBA which is very rare in US but some UK/Europe school provide the same but now as you know job is hard after getting a European MBA degree so i am preferring ISB Hyderabad over all of the schools because cost in US or in Canada is almost same as far as i think and as we are experienced so we don't have complete two years. hey i would also like to suggest there is one more if you know SP Jain Twin model GMBA pgm i heard its good and 68th rank world wide bt FT so i will also try for that.

let me know if you can find another one year MBA Pgm which is good world wide because i just wanna do my MBA from top 50 only so if i have to wait i will wait for 1 or 2 or 3 whatever it takes to get in those schools because i just have around 3.5 years of exp so till atleast till 5 years i will get some good ones.

one more thing when you have prepared completely and you think i have covered all subjects then only start this book KAPLAN 800 advanced version don't open it now okies it is also good one.

you can also think of exec. MBA you already have so much exp so i suggest better to do that because you will get very good position in industry and they are just of duration 1 year.

Canadian market is not as big as US market considering that the population here is almost 1/10th of the US. For the same reason career progression is better in US. But I feel the quality of life is better in Canada. You can find almost the same facilities in both the countries but Canadians are comparatively little laid back. That means a better work-life balance. The number of working hours depend on the job but for most of the jobs, the working hours and stress level would be lesser in Canada. Moreover, even during the whole US recession, Canadian market was hit because of their dependency on the US products/customers. But as such, Canadian banks and other institutes were still going strong.
Also, most of the Canadian b-schools are cheaper than the US ones. But then again the cost per student depends on the scholarship they can get from each b-school (Canada or US).
But as we all know, most of the US schools are comparatively better known than the Canadian ones. The only point is that some of the Canadian schools offer one-year MBA. I am still searching for schools that have one year program in US. Let's see if I can find any. One year course is always cheaper than the two year ones.

I have 6 years of work ex, out of which almost 3 years is international experience.
My target would be Richard Ivey, Rotman in Canada and some B-schools in US (depending on the GMAT score).
I am in Canada right now and would prefer to get through a good Canadian school because I have some work ex here which helps in getting jobs after MBA for an international student.

What about you? What are your preferred universities? Are you working or are you a student?

SC- Manhattan book best one no need to go anywhere. i am following it only .......if you live in pune then fc road pe photocopy milti hai just in Rs. 300.

Maths - and CR - my teacher suggested Kaplan...good standard

Anyway OG is there for you always and
i bought Kaplan premier 2012 with it one Cd you get with 7 test that is also good investment for 1200/-.

ims test series i heard is good but not sure abt any one available in market.

1.5 is sufficient but as you are also working as far as i think work hard on weekends.... because that is what we get in all.

Hi everyone,

I am planning to appear for GMAT in mid-October. Haven't started studying yet though. If I get a good score this time (which is difficult) then I will apply to the universities this year, otherwise will try GMAT again next year.
I'd appeared for CAT some 6 years back and scored 96 percentile. But was not keen on studying then so joined a job in an IT company. I guess GMAT would be lot harder than CAT. I'd studied for 3-4 months for CAT and since I was a student then I could give lot more time for preparation on daily basis.
Anyways, any suggestions on GMAT preparation in 1.5 months are welcome. Considering that I am working now, I guess I can give around 4-5 hrs maximum on weekdays and maybe complete days on some weekends.
Anyone who appeared for GMAT in such a short time and scored well (or has learnt from a bad experience), please advise. Any help/advise is appreciated.
