I feel Give ur best shot with 100 % efforts that u can make , then try to take decision based on the opportunities. Also parellally U can try for GMAT & othe IIM executuve one year courses.

we tend to overspecify, over speculate, just take it easy, right now ur aim shud be cat cat cat, coz if u dotn get good score, all dis goes bekaar, so jump to sm odr preparations thread n discuss sm ques rather than dese unknown ideas n facts , all d best, n yes dont think of 97, think of 100, u...
Thats a lil disconcertin.. N'th'less, if i keet trunkin on @ ma job, and do secure a 'bove 97'%ile, the work exp. of > a yr which i'd have accumulated will have a bearing on ma selection, right? n jus a clarification, do i get ny brownie points for being in a field in which i did ma major in, unlike the populace? i did EEE n i'm working in a electrical concern, so jus thought i'd ask..

I barely get 5-6 hours of time for preparing. My work(around 9-10 hours ideally) and travel(2 hours) eat up most of my day.Preparing a plan for studying is not the problem....implementing it with the variables involved (work timings, traffic jams, meetings etc) is....
just have a look at the selection criterion of various colleges and chk for the points that u get for work ex, surprisingly u ll find that ur work ex helps only if u manage to get a gud percentile, while vice versa is not true. if u have a work ex of 2 years, u get 1 point which translate...
Im Girish, working in an electrical company, want some counsel from all u experienced guys ere. Firstly ma grades, 10th- 86% 12th 89.8, and B.Tech (2010 pass-out) 63&, wrote cat 2 years back, got 92 %ile.
Ive been working here for the past 6 months, and these are ma dilemma,
Should I continue work (till next yr) and simultaneously prep for CAT 11(quite rigorous but instinct tells its possible), thereby having a track of good work exp. Be4 I join next year, but the downside m afraid ofs if it may hinder ma prep for CAT. (quite catch-22,ey!)
Or Shall I drop the job, focus on intense prep, in which Id be jus having some 8 months work exp, will it be considered while selection and lateral placements and give me edge??
Since ma undergrads quite abysmal, I hope to back it by work exp. For which I would be needin to work atleast for an year min. But then I cant join school by 12.
I know Im d best judge, but thought u guys will help me resolve it properly by shedding some light.
Thanks a lot mateys . Cheers!

if u have a work ex of 2 years, u get 1 point which translates to an increase of 2 percentile, considering cat score is given 50% weightage .
so its only if u get a %ile of say 97 that u get treated like one who has got 99
but if u have a %ile of say 94 or 95, ur 2 years work ex means nthg.
n yes by the way, work ex less than 2 years has no meaning
