A surgeon taking up GMAT. Thats quite interesting. I have begun my preparations but not in full swing. I have started with Princeton Review. I am not goin to attend any tuition/coaching classes. 6+ months of preparation is sufficient enough to crack GMAT. What major are you planning to take in your MBA.

To answer your question on wasting time, it has been less than a week since I suggested people to do anything and if they did follow it they are better off than really losing out on time.

In page 1 i had given the preparation strategy adopted by me and my score last time was 680 which was in Sep 2007.
When it comes to RC, if you get confused with answer choices in most cases there is a word match or context match in the passage look for that. As I had mentioned earlier its most important to get a gist of the passage so read the first few lines slowly then pace up. I strongly advice using economist.com, thats the online link to economist mag the actual subscription may be expensive but this serves the purpose. Go to that site and click on some random article don't read the heading go through the content and ............

I think what u say ,does make sense.My brother in law has done MBA abroad(from one of the top 5 ) ,even he told about usefulness of reading international mags or newspapers.....
