Why doesnt the college put up a list of students at its websites instead of sending mails? They should provide waitlist/merit no. to students also like MDI.
Last year mails were sent for PGDM/PGDHRM and this year for PGDHRM. No transparency at all, gives rise to speculation, students do not ...

With a heavy heart and mixed feelings, today I withdrew my seat at 707 Merit rank(98.60%tile). Hope my choice turns out to be good. All the best to future Mandevians. Cheers!

Preparation:-
1) 2.5 to 3 months of extensive preparation is needed for Level 1. Though the hours required vary but generally around 4-5 hrs per day from schweser notes for 2.5 months should be enough to clear Level 1.

Since no one seems to be posting, let me force you guys to post.

Recently have been getting a lot of suggestions regarding CFA.Since I was looking for an MBA in finance and will have work ex in the same area at FF, is it a good idea to go for CFA ? Since I have no idea about CFA, tried to search on the net but ended up more confused than before.
Plz suggest whether it would be helpful and if anyone has cleared any level, plz PM me. Want to know the syllabus and other details regarding CFA.

My 2 cents on CFA..
Preparation:-
1) 2.5 to 3 months of extensive preparation is needed for Level 1. Though the hours required vary but generally around 4-5 hrs per day from schweser notes for 2.5 months should be enough to clear Level 1.

2) I think managing that kind of time with job and CAT preparation would be tough. Obviously your priority would be CAT preparation. However after you have written the MBA entrances, most of the interviews stretch at max till march end. So you still have around 2 full months after the interviews to prepare for L1 in June and I think it can be done with concentrated effort. I myself appeared in L1 exam in June after giving CAT and appearing for the interviews.

Now for the utility of CFA:-
CFA level 2/3 certifications (along with an MBA in Finance from an IIM) will enormously help you in getting into the following domains:

a) Portfolio Management / Asset Management (eg: GSAM, UBS Wealth Management)
b) Private Wealth Management (all major I-banks .. JPM, MS etc .. have their PWM group too)
c) Equity Research (some rating companies also are into equity research business)

However, CFA certifications do not help significantly in Investment banking and Hedge Funds (Alternative Investments) domains .. though having one surely gives you an edge over others..
