Thanks jay, but my worry is that if I am not shortlisted based on 10 & 12th marks then you will not get a chance to show your point. that why m asking % of companies that lay 10 and 12% in shortlisting criteria. If only 4-5 companies are there yhen you can safely ignore them n focus other companies but if the %age is around 50% or more then it is really a worry for me.

Following are the primary parameters used by almost all the companies which shortlisting CVs:

1) Academics (10th,12th,Grad - the absolute score as well as relative ranking is considered)
2) Your graduation college - Premier institutes ofcourse have a higher weightage.
3) Work experience - it may or may not be relevant; the qualtiy of work ex; the quantity of work ex.
4) Extra cirrics - Positions of responsibilities, projects, papers, olympiads, competitions, etc.

This is true for Summers. Three more parameters are added for finals:
1) Summers Profile
2) Summers Company name
3) CGPA in MBA

Now, companies give different weights to these parameters based on their requirements and shortlist candidates. These weights may change on an yearly basis as the process evolves.

I have been reading these posts venting individual frustration. A lot of the facts you have posted are completely incorrect.

All aspirants here need to note that accepting applications from any specific course is completely a decision of the company. Each company is informed regarding the courses offered by NMIMS. Based on the requirements of the company, the applications are accordingly opened up to the specific courses. Lamenting that too few companies opened up for a sectoral course is like like a kid crying for attention - a focused course will ofcourse have a limited acceptability in the industry since it is a more specialized program. The pool of students in each focused course is also smaller. Also, even if I go by your own number of 20 companies for CM/BM. Lets check the below numbers: 20 companies -> 60 students. Ratio of 1:3.
For Core, approx 100 odd companies. 300 students. Ratio of 1:3.

Also, each course is represented in the placement committee. There isn't any chance of bias occurring. I suggest that you stop spreading incorrect information.

I have thought of taking a sabbatical from my job (nd not actually resigning from it). will it affect my placement chances in NMIMS in anyway.
spoke to placement cell of NMIMS, & the lady their told me that i may not be allowed to sit for campus placements in such a case?
Is it true?
What is the actual process that is followed in NM in such cases at placement time?

You could sit for placements (even if you were on a sabbatical) - during the time we had graduated. I really doubt if they would have changed the policy so much.

On the final degree of mba....is it mentioned like mba in cm/bm or mba in finance/marketing.... what is exactly written??
is there any difference between the final degree of mba core and sectoral mba(bm/cm) ??

Only MBA is written on the degree for MBA Core; for others - they do write Banking/Capital Markets/Actuarial. This is what I remember from when I graduated.

I would strongly recommend that all aspirants remove their rose-tinted glasses and look at the jobs post MBA with much more practicality. MBA isn't a ticket to highest echelons of management immediately after graduation. It is only an enabler towards achieving the goals.

No one likes cold calling, yes; but it is an essential part of prospecting. (An initial step in Sales strategy).
