@nitk2iima2 I beg to differ. Why is it absolutely necessary to practice along with the general on pagalguy itself ? You can always go to their threads and learn what they are discussing. I believe this thread was a good idea and needs to develop itself into a competitive one, thats all !

There is a phrase "For those who would understand, you wont have to explain. If it requires that you explain something they would never understand". Whatever hue and cry both the sides have is useless. The phrase applies to myself too but my humble request is this is not the forum for fighting. By fighting you will end the possibilities (by getting expelled) of helping numerous people who need the help from you in the coming years.

See the person who started all this, started it and left. He has got nothing to lose. But you guys are wasting the valuable time and opportunity which can make a huge difference to your life.

1. If you are starting the GD never start with " I think there should be capital punishment or there should nt be capital punishment". You are at a GD to discuss as the name suggests and not decide. This same should be maintained through out the discussion.

In this particular topic. You could start with. "Ladies and gentlemen the topic of the discussion here is Capital punishment of rape. Rape as a crime is one of the most severe crimes which affects the victim mentally and physically. In the case of Aruna Shanbaug the victim has lead a vegetative life. While the capital punishment may help scare the perpetrators from committing such a crime it might also force them to kill the victims so that they dont get prosecuted as the victim's statement is crucial in rape cases. Also we as a society have been debating for the abolition of capital punishment as it denies right of life for those individuals particularly who might be wrongly accused of a crime."

USE the PESTLE: Political, Economical, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental

If we take in the social aspects: Rape as a crime has been used as a method for subduing women or subduing so called lower castes of the society historically. With such complex issues at hand Rape as a crime could be better handled if we proper educate our children at schools and home and also remove social inequity.

For any topic analyse the same since it helps us to accrue more points which could be discussed about.

Conclusion: Conclusion should be more like the summary of issues discussed and here again emphasize on not telling that it was decided this and that.
