What are u guys upto? Hope all cancellations are done? Can we have this thread dedicated to the new batch, may be other queries could be taken up on the admissions wala thread. Looks very weird u know, one clicks on the thread, and all u get to read is cancellation refunds

So peeps, enjoying ur last few days (of freedom and peace)? hehe...as has always been mentioned, enjoy the last few days before u join, but yeah, dont think u wont get any sources of enjoyment here, the thing is...the appearances would be deceptive

wat is the lastt date for paying the fees for the converted candidates given in the acceptance form..... i mean when will be the wait list operated

Last date is 18th may... hopefully wait list should be clear by 19 or 20th...

you are correct i am speculating but not blindly; atleast these speculation will raise hope which will keep our( waitlisters) dreams alive.........

yeah i took everything into consideration before saying that 15-20 wl will clear.... i will say how.....

around 65 people either got selected in iitkgpor iitb or in iitd (and its combinations )and also in iitm (say 55 not joining)....... (courtesy: google spreadsheet)

not to mention 25 people who selected in iitk got selected in iitm( assume a minimum of 10 doesnt join iitm)... and also there are students who got selected in IISc who are not joining here.....


adding to it there will people who got selected in sibm, nmims, scmhrd and many more pvt colleges which will be around 15 to 20.....

there will be people who got selected in iitm and will give it a shot in next year cat say these kinda people be 5.....

now adding these no. of people... 55+10+20+5=90(A)

no.of final calls issued 130(B)...
subtract A from B

130-90=40(C)

total no.of seats: 60 (D)

D-C= 20(E)

E is the no.of waiting people who will finally convert it.....

allow a skew of +- 5 on both sides (15-25)

this is how i calculated that 15-20 wl will bw operated.......


and this was the situation last year when the same no. of final calls issued (130) there wer people whose wl was updated (typ eg: rmbt)

now coming over to making a choice.. well i guess iit m have everything to offer that a good b-schools should have.. and i opted for it coz of my awesome experience during GD/PI i have never seen such a fine faculty tht was a major deciding factor..

and regarding ranking and all IIT don't need one..

and i must suggest all plz make a personal choice while opting for a b-school.. go with your heart than anything else. my heart said iit m so i am joining ... and really happy about it.. just counting days to be there...

buddy don worry i can see many people of 2006-08 batch, people having iitkgp calls and others who donot aspire joining iitm in that community. don panic... there is a good chance for wl pl... i presume atleast 15-20 seats will bw given to wl people( from my analysis of the iitm spreadsheet)..
by th way have updated your wilingness in iitm spreadsheet.....

no offense meant pal but u can not conclude anything out of that.. i have both kgp and iit m calls and have opted for iit m .. so have faith but don't speculate... moreover there must be many ppl who r not on PG..

this does not meant WL don't have any chance but how much no one can tell.. anyways all the best....

I have emailed and faxed them that i wont b joinin so 2 refund my money i guess it is fallin on deaf ears but after readin 2days newspaper i thght there is stil some hope what should b d next step?????????

NEW DELHI/AHMEDABAD/KOLKATA/BANGALORE: The IIMs and the HRD ministry are on collision course again. This time, over the decision by the premier B-schools to announce admission lists for their flagship PGP course on April 21. The government, still reeling under the ignominy of the Supreme Courts stay on OBC quotas, has frowned on the move.

The Centre thinks the IIMs should not announce the lists till the apex court decides on an appeal proposed to be moved shortly by the government against the stay. The government reckons that this will not upset the usual academic session of the IIMs slated to begin in June.

The IIMs move is certain to cause more discomfort to HRD minister Arjun Singh and those who support his initiative to implement 27% reservations for OBCs in the IIMs and IITs. In a letter sent to the ministry, the IIMs proposed a two-stage admission process. The number of students on the first list to be announced on April 21 will be the same as last year as the IIMs will not take into account the capacity expansion planned to accommodate the OBC quota.
