lets put in some more interesting insights into the contents of TOI and other newspapers rather than just plain despising.....i believe facts must be supported by fitting arguments.
this would help take the thread to an all together new level of discussion besides enhancing our knowledge base.

u really put forth a significant aspect of newspapers' political bias...i must admit i hadnt thought on these lines earlier...thankx.

junta, plz. bring forth more interesting stuff bout the content correctness and biases (political or otherwise) bout the indian newspapers, maybe international as well.

as for me...i m simply in love with ET and its supplimets. if i get to read ET, i can comfortably ignore TOI.

besides the news, there's another aspect from which the utility of newspapers should be considered.....the various info. like admission advertisemets, classifieds, tenders, etc.
Do the more scholarly newspapers like Hindu carry them all? In short, what i mean to put forth is that do we need to read more than one newspaper to get all the news and useful info. we require? Isnt there a newspaper in India that serves both purposes equally well?

the toi atleast can serve as a second newspaper(tabloid) for bringing in spice to our lives. the first newspaper can be the serious one(hindu, statesman, etc.)

but a very related issue to the above one (i wouldnt start a new thread for it) , is that: WHAT ABOUT THE AUTHETICITY OF THE NEWS IN THESE NEWSPAPERS?

which is the most authentic newspaper from ur perspective and why? plz. try to justify with suitable examples, if possible.


P.S. all those who have criticised the toi, have u stopped using it? or was it just an opinion to stop using it?

the only 3 things that come to my mind after getting 6 IIM calls without a very thorough preparation and a terrible standing in the coaching class (read 20+) are:

1. u need to be atleast an average student

2. strategizing through experimentation
(N/B- hardwork to be done in making the right strategy, not otherwise according to me)

3. finding the ways and means to keep u outta pressure just for those 2 hours (its not easy but possible)

just think of the only reason that would make u take up IIML.....if even that doesnt motivate u, then go to wherever u want...after all, its ur life man. do it the way u want.
