I seriously doubt the method u r discussing is followed here. :

see it is not possible to simply double the number and give out calls to the top 2x . Becoz if in that 2x there are more than x people with L as their best call then it will lead to seat shortage . Hence there has to be diligence done in order to ensure that buffer calls are given out keeping the number of A B call getters. I think that is the reason why the L results came out after A B C came out.

I think buffer calls are an effective way of ensuring quick admissions.


1) Prepare a list of top 192 students ( actual number of GEN seats) -> X .
2) Calculate number of people who have a call ( Confirmed ) from either A or B or C in X -> Y
3) Repeat Step 2 until Y becomes 0
4) For all WL candidates in the list add some buffer -> Z

Final Buffer calls will be X + Y + Z .

Also when L came out with it's shortlist I wonder if they decided to give final calls to those who had admits from A , B , C .I don't know about past statistics I haven't heard or seen anybody who would choose L over A B C. So in that case they can afford to give calls to only those who don't have a confirmed call from A or B or C and give buffer for only waitlist . what say ?

The exact number of general candidates for our batch is not known..but they should be somewhere around 180

what is the strength of you batch ? I'm just trying to whether the full extent of the quota has been implemented or not in this year

Hail RTI for sure. But I wonder what the total number of seats is . Going by the rule that not more than 50% of seats are to be reserved should 384 be the max number of seats available. But there was some talk of the total number of seats being 400 +.. ??

All call getters seem to have received a mail from IIML today regarding the fees to be paid on June 25-26. They have put all the email IDs in the "to" list, so this allows us to get some perspective with regard to the buffer calls ...

There are a total of 792 email addresses that the mail has been sent out to! There seem to be a lot of buffer calls.

Just called up IIM-L. If you want to confirm your acceptance form , then call after 2:30pm. The DD for the first term will be 1,08,500 ( balance amount) at the time of registration. ( It was mentioned as 50k in the e-mail. Don't know what it says in the offer letter) . Still waiting for offer letter.

It depends on what you are looking for. The average pay package was around 12-13 last year . Also the MBA provides you with an option to try different roles and in the long run prepares you for a management career. I wouldn't like to look at an MBA as an short-term investment. If you are happy with ure job currently then maybe u can stick to it.
