MFE costs more than INR 25 Lacs atmost places. You may need to revise/ammend point 2.

general gyaan on PRM

1) lots of centres in india. In fact atleast 10 in delhi alone

2) no restriction on PRM

3) Not much useful if u're interested in Ibanking front office

4) Very useful if u want to go into risk mgmt/middle office

5) NONE of the recruiters at my b school knew wat was PRM abt

6) FRM is a bit more recognised

7) Have taken only exams 1 & 2 so can only tell u abt them - easy

exam 3 seems tough

9) NOT a subsitute for CFA

Two points abt computers

1) Get a Pen drive if you don't already have one. These days u get it a 2 GB one for 400 Rs types . It'll be very very useful

2) if you're not extremely short of money, buy a laptop. It'll make your life 10 times easier at IIFT Delhi and will prove to be one of the best investments .

After being in a B School for 2 years, i've realized that management is what you understand in the field, not in a classroom. While its great to have different viewpoints in a class and learn from your peers, the real feel comes when you're on the job/internship.

However, There are certain jobs for which having an MBA from a 'good' school is absolutely necessary.Front End I banking for example. If you're a CFA/top ranker IITian its different, otherwise an MBA is a de facto thing that you need to make it there.

And that's why even if you don't want/need it, the HR sitting in the company still wants it, and because of his/her perception you'll have to do it.

while there is excellent placement opportunity for the MBA(IB) regular 2 yr course, There is NO formal placement process for the part timers.

BTW those who join the part time batch have usually 5-20 yrs of experience behind them.

Since you have cleared L2 also, i would like to ask you some basic questions which i have...

One of my prime concern is, after clearing L1 do you get job, if yes what is the salary range for the job??

Because i am from Software industry and would like to enter finance industry directly after L1...so i would like to know what is the job prospectus after L1...

although that question isn't directed at me, I think you can expect a decent job only after Level 2. Level 1 is a definite advantage to your MBA/finance degree,if any. For example in my b school those who had a Level 1 pass in their resume were looked at favourably by recruiters. however real gains start accruing after you are a Level 3 candidate (read L2 pass).

exactly 2 years ago, i was in the same dilemma and chose the CSR issue waala route. I too realized that for Current Affairs i could no way prepare by newspaers alone and read april - Nov 2005 issues of CSR.

It paid off. And i saw atleast 10 qns in My exam paper :)

PS- Standard Disclaimers attached... and IIFT 2005 could just been an 'outlier' . Only that it worked for me.
