The kind of profile you get primarily depends on the institute you graduate from.

Having said that, the profile could be an HR Executive to a HR Manager - depending on the institute, your profile and experience. This could be an HR generalist or a specialist profile (recruitment, comp and ben, L&D;)

Apart from internal HR, there are various HR consulting profiles that one may be interested in.

The growth is pretty good and it depends majorly on you as well.

For certificate courses, there are certifications by SHRM and other professional bodies. These are recognized world over.

HR attracts people from all backgrounds. It does not matter that you are a computer engineer as long as you possess the required skills and passion for a career in HR.

As far as the course in IMT-Nagpur is concerned, I have no idea - you should speak to students and alumni of the institute to get a better idea.

You can join the communities on orkut and facebook for the new batch and get in touch with others who are joining TISS this year and looking for accomodation. You can also contact the first years at TISS who would be moving in to the hostels and leaving their flats/ PGs

HR is the future. Not marketing, not finance , HR is :)

And growth in any field depends on you. There are a lot of finance and marketing professionals out there. And there are many in HR as well. But is upto you to grow and carve out a niche for yourself.

It is a myth that in HR, growth is slow. Today most companies look to groom their HR talent for leadership positions in the future and give them diverse exposure to help them grow.

I am not trying to sell HR as a career to you. Having said that, one must realize the opportunities that this field holds as well.

Explore , try and figure out where your passion lies and what you are cut out for.

In case you want to switch from HR to business in the future, it makes sense to go for a PGDBM with specialization in HR rather than a pure HR course.

Having said this, there are quite a few HR professionals who switch to business or other domains like sales and marketing without any formal degree as such. What matters is your desire, aptitude and knowledge that you exhibit in order to change your career path.

As far as I know, I think a master's degree is needed for the PhD course but you may contact the TISS office and confirm this.

The Acads will be used only for eligibility as Palo Ma'am has said and pointed out above.

Acads were used as an input during my time but maybe from this year, the rules and scoring system has changed to only look at Written Test, GD and Interview scores. The final score will be the sum of these and used to select candidates.
