hey everybody.....plz give right info on this ....icfai other cooleges except hydrebad give pgpm degree........tell me about this pgpm degrre is it valid or not .....i mean in terms of mba degree or it is a correspondence mba degree......and plz arrange the top 5 icfai campuses...how is the placement scenario of icfai gurgaon in 2009....are all guys placed or not and what s the avg and highest package.......thanks a lottt

PGPM = Post Graduate program in Management. IT is neither a degree nor a diploma, it's a certificate. Hyderabad, Dehradun offer an MBA and not PGPM while almost all others offer PGPM and they give an option to join a Distance learnign MBA logn with it from either Icfai university or any other university of student's choice.. Placement scenario can be checked on the website of Ibs. The average package mentioned is the average of all packages and not the weighted average of individual student packages.

Hello Pallavi and Aspirants

I am not a completely dejected candidate but then u know it is unfortunate to not get placed after finishing MBA from an institute which has always been known for good placements. Though the companies are still visiting but packages are in the range of 2-3L Ctc mostly, sometimes more or less than that. So it get difficult to repay the loan especially when one doesn't have a good financial backing, like in my case. Things were very good before i joined but have drastically changed ever since, partly because of the slowdown and companies freezing hiring. My intention surely is not to dishearten the aspirants, everyone gets a fair chance to post on this thread, so did I. However, good things about IBS are good study material, fairly decent faculty, good library.

My good wishes to all IBS aspirants and all those who will finally make into one of IBS campuses(probably all :P) I am sure that all those who will join IBS will very soon realize something about the mistake they've made but they will never accept it because it is against one's ego to accept one's own foolish decisions. I'll just write something important that i have learnt from my experiences in the last 2 years :

" Nobody gets anything in life without their bit of STRUGGLE" Luck only supplements hard work. If STRUGGLE to get into a good B-School is avoided now, STRUGGLE will continue for a longer time Later... before visible happiness and success is seen.

That's completely untrue. The batch size is close to 1000 people and has a mix of freshers(more of them) and experienced people(also in great numbers).

The requirement of companies that visit IBS Gurgaon varies. But yeah, most companies do have a 60% criteria.

There are 3 different types of offering once u give the IBSAT:
1) Admission to IBS Hyderabad which is a deemed to be university.
2) Admission to IBS Dehradoon and IBS Ranchi, both are affiliated to Icfai universities of their respective states.
3) The other campuses of IBS which are not affiliated to any university and they will give a PGPM and not give you a degree.

I hope this makes it somewhat clear to you what u can do with IBSAT. Icfai and IBS are not related for the option 3). The only thing is that you will be given study material of Icfai university and u will also be selling Icfai university courses etc if u join SAP in IBS. Otherwise, Icfai and IBS ar unrelated.

You can join any of ICFAI Business School's either by giving IBSAT or by giving GMAT, the former makes more sense obviously if you are not giving GMAT for the purpose of taking education abroad. No colleges other than Icfai colleges use the IBSAT for admission. For more information on the test, please visit ibsat.org.

I'd suggest all those who are taking the IBSAT to concentrate more on getting IBS Hyderabad because it is the best among all campuses and no other campus even comes close. I am from IBS Gurgaon but have friends in most other campuses. The fees is definitely high considering that on campus accommodation isn't there for non-Hyderabad campuses and also all facilities are closed by 7 PM. However, if money isn't a problem, then IBS campuses are good in terms of education and student quality. But do remember that taking an education Loan of such a high amount is not a very good idea. Scholarships are awarded to top 25% of students of abt 50000 each in every semester, but then the rest of 75% do pay the whole fees and not every1 can get a scholarship every time, so the fees doesn't necessarily come down. As far as placements go, IBS has always has a good record in terms of numbers of students placed, which has always been claimed to be arnd 100%. Last year, of course every B school was hit and IBS was no different. BUT IBS has a very huge intake, so schools lie IBS are hit more when companies are not recruiting, otherwise IBS course has a good standing among corporates, especially Banks and Financial companies.

Well, there has been an issue regarding the degree. The State universities are not allowed to give a regular degree to students of campuses located in states other than the state in which the university exists. Fir this reason, either of the following two things is likely to happen:

=> Deemed universities will be allowed to give regular degrees to campuses other than the one where the university has been given deemed status. This can happen when the "other campuses" maintain equally good standards as the main deemed university campus. This will take about 2-3 months as per Kapil Sibal's order.

=> ICFAI has applied to individual State governments for creation of separate universities in the respective states where campuses of IBS exist.

In any case, this issue will be resolved.
