I hope I am not too early, but with the idea I got from IIMC threads and rik's WL number,
it seems the best thing possible is going to happen, and in near future

There have been quite a few posts following pk_gt's initial comment. I could not understand a few points in his last though - 1. If brand building makes companies like ATK etc. come to campus (I can tell you that brand building is not the only reason, but just taking that to be the case hypothetically), then what is the problem with brand building?? I mean, you will prefer not to build a brand and let other campuses take these companies away?? Seriously ehh??
2. I am sick and tired of telling this to people, take rankings with a pinch of salt. We all know how believable our desi rankings are (well, they DARE to put a 'prestigious' B School perceived by a 'well-known' educationist BEYOND the IIMs ;)). The thing I don't understand is that why the same people feel that the international rankings are sacrosanct. I mean, do you guyz even try to see through what's there in those rankings? FT ranking, for example, put ISB's avg salary at $148000 - take that. I am not trying to demean ISB here, I am just trying to put these in perspective (It's easier for me to get the avg salary figure for ISB, so I took that example). And as for IIMs getting into these ranks before, a little bit of research would do you a help here. IIMs were not there because they did not fulfill certain criteria for being considered (e.g. IIMA has categorically mentioned that FT ranking is not applicable since we don't have 2 yrs work exp as mandatory). IIMs would always have been in top 100 (much better in fact), if the criteria were different. It's no surprise then that they took their deserved positions once those criteria barriers were removed.
3. Comparing B schools is banned in pg, I won't get into that. My only advice to the guy who initially sought it would be to IGNORE the advice given by pk_gt. IGNORE is a strong word, and I am using it on purpose here, since it concerns the career of a person. Any help sought from me, PM me, you will get a reply.
To a different area now - will be in Cal in 1st week of June. Rik, Souvick and all others who have my number, what abt arranging a meet?
