@kuday - u can also refer to page no. 39 & 42 on this forum of discussion, that contains my excerpts... except allahabad bank's interview I cleared the rest...the questions asked to me while appearing for interview in SBI were also the same so didn't publish it... one question that u could probably be asked by them is about the concept of a co-operative bank....

corporation bank PO interview results are out.... i got selected, got the appointment letter.... but i have already joined UCO bank on 29th as a PO...:biggrin:

who says that PO is based on fresher's criteria ??? and as far as the notice period is concerned... first you have to see that whether your name is there in the final selection list... and the date of joining after the final selection is declared varies from bank to bank... my suggestion (and not an advice), would be wait for the final selection result, if your name appears on the list, then only take leave from your company... if your company furnishes an acknowledgement letter (dont confuse this with relieveing letter ) on your resignation notice... you can show that to the bank that you have resigned from that company... another thing you can do is, if your company relieves you after the joing date of the bank in which you are selected.. then delay your joining date with the bank by citing and submitting medical reasons :-P:drinking: ....

Today, I attended the interview for PO post of Corporation Bank at Harrington road, Kolkata. Here are the excerpts of the interview...

There were 5 men on the interview panel. I'll be calling them Sir1, Sir2, Sir3, Sir4, Sir5.

Sir1(sitting in the middle): So, you are Mr. Amlan Majumder, right?!
Me: Yes sir
Hell NO!! AM not AMLAN, am you r@#$%^&
Sir1: Tell us about yourself.
....told them....
Sir1: tell us about your family.
....told them....
Sir1: You are an engineer graduate, what encouraged you to enter bank?
here we go again... every bank interviewer's appetizer like question...

Me: The scope in this field is really broad, it (banking) is also considered to be the sunshine industry of country. In this field i will get to know not just about bank to bank branching but also about consultancy, other services like financial services, telephone banking, retailers, corporate banking, etc. So banking is a fast changing environment and with the advent of various technologies and products, scope for learning is much more now.

Sir2: tell me the different types of accounts...

Sir 3: what is curent account? or rather, what is the difference between savings bank account and current account?
Me: in savings accounts, the interest is given on the amount deposited, whereas in current account, no interest is given by the bank.

Sir3:which class of people holds current account in the bank?
Me: those who are businessmen...

Sir2:why did you study biotechnology then?
(i was thinking: main biotech padhu ya computer, usse tera $%^&* ka kya jayga??)
me: when i was entering college, biotechnology was projected to be a sunrise industry of the future just like the IT industry as it was 15-20 yrs back. so i took up Biotech. i also thought, if not graduation then atleast a post graduate qualification may land me in that industry. but sadly that is not the scenario now.

Sir4: why is biotechnology not growing as it was projected?
me: according to the experts of the biotech industry, they term it to be a very risky business. it takes 10-12 yrs to develop a biotech product as it is made and tested on live objects. but usually, by the time a company develops a product, a better product is already been lainched in the market by another company. Therefore, investors are wary of investing their capital in such a business for any new venture. in our country, the biotech companies just manufactures products under license from foreign organization... thats what i heard....

Sir4: but banking is a totally different environment!!
Me: yes sir i am aware of that. When i was in Infosys, that too was a diffenrent environment, as they deal in software whereas i was from a non-computing background.

Sir4: why did you leave Infosys?
Me: actually, i was a trainee in that company. In the end i was ill as i had developed some liver complications in me. So i missed some classes of that training program. As a result i was unable to clear 5 exams. I was given another chances to clear those five papers but the other classes were running in parallel. Hence i was unable to cope up and failed in the second chances as well. Thus i was asked to resign cuz according to them i was not performing well.

Sir4: will you be able to cope up with the banking environment??
Me: I believe that yes i can do well in this ector. When i was in Infosys, had i not been sick, or, had i had more time, i would have definitely been continuing with that company.

Sir4: did you not tried with other software companies?
Me: no
Sir4: why?
Me: because, i find Banking sector more lucrative, challenging and filled with better prospect.

Sir1: Ok mr. Amlan... that's all from our side... Thank you.... and wish you all the best!!!
Me: Thank you SIr, it was Reallyu nice talikng to you, All Of You!!!

After the interview ended all of them were smiling... except the 5th person Sir5...sitting on the far right from my side he was almost dozing all along, wiping his eyes time to time... he said nothing at all... This session of interview lasted for about 10 mins...
Overall i was satisfied with my interaction with them, this was my 5th Bank interview... What do you say? if you feel like anything, then do comment... my previous interview's excerpts are given on the following link... it is of the same thread as this one... just a few pages back. I am selected in the UCO bank PO final list as of now, waiting for the appointment letter... god knows when it will come.. here's the link of those interview..

(The following line was added on 15th feb 2012)- I have cleared SBI PO.... Now I will be leaving UCO Bank to join SBI as a PO.... questions asked to me in that interview were the same....

nope... still waiting for the UCO bank appointment letter.... and besides, the interview results for bank of baroda PO was supposed to be out by now as well, God knows why are they taking such a long time...

i guess you wont stop arguing... u will find one or the other issues to talk about to make yourself happy by thinking that u are winning... though whatever you said are totally correct... but if you come down to ranking... the latest survey tells a different story nowdays.... i am feeling sick of this argument because it is pointless now, it has lost its relevance... if you find out anything good to take back home then please continue.... am done with your remarks anyway.... and Hell Yeah I am not only proud of my college, i boast of this college, because of its outstanding performance since the last decade!!! cheerio:cheerio:!!!!

and one more thing @ceoglad, there is nothing called "a top NIT"..... each and every NIT is a class on its own.... and each of them are of national importance....

i am an engineer, and i would i have a contrary opinion to this, i would like to tell you that no degree is superior that it would give anyone "COMPLEX" as u term it, and more over if a degree could give so much "complex" to others then why would i chase a career in banking rather i would stay in my field and give people "complex" , we all know,deep in our hearts what we are, may be i have degree which says i'm a computer engineer, but passion may be I banking, or banking, dude degree defines nothing about man, it is too narrow minded to say that it gives them complex , at the end of the day degree is on the paper , its your aspiration ,your mettle , your capability that matters.. look at myself 10 years down the line i would definitely not say " look i'm an engineer from top NIT" so i can give complex! wrong i would think how should increase my knowledge base to become the CEO of this company..

P.S : i have graduated from a top NIT worked with an MNC, and presently into my MBA , all that i realize is knowledge that these commerce guy, arts guy, or medico guy posses is amazing and complex in itself also realize that knowledge at the end of the day is knowledge, be it knowledge about sewing a cloth or designing a plane or a computer program or excavating a fossil..if you are go deep into particular field no degree or certificate matters... i'm a strong supporter of knowledge assimilation and i detest any sort of disparity in judging any sort of knowledge.

Tell this to those who are against recruiting engineers in PSU jobs.... PSU job exams are open competition where no specific subject is mentioned... and i never belittled anybody's qualification... whatever i have said, was only to potray what other people harbours for us engineers in a competition... and the COMPLEX factor, that was mentioned to me by an AGM of a PSU bank (which i dont want to name in public)... even I am a 2010 Graduate from NIT Durgapur, working at Infosys Bhubaneshwar, and one more thing, there is nothing called "a top NIT"..... each and every NIT is a class on its own.... and each of them are of national importance..... perhaps You didn't notice what i actually feel about candidates from other streams... i have also said in the post (quoting exactly what i had written) "knowledge is gained through practical/hands on experience. whatever we learnt in our graduation days are of least importance and that applies to people from all streams".... i respect them whole heartedly... its really sad that how badly you have misquoted mine... i would suggest you to go through that post and think twice before you comment... have i been incorrect/wrong then i would have been booed and received more than three groans...

My BOB interview today was a disaster

When I was leaving .. I also heard them say .. B-Tech walo ko bulate hi kyu hain :O
and felt so rejected hearing that

look dude!!! they are the public with commerce background... whereas we all are having engg. background... everyone knows after what kind of competition we go through to make it to the engg. phase.. since we stood out in a competition, we are labelled as the creams of the student's community in India (by the way, i mean no offence to those who have graduated in streams other than engg. or medical, some of the brightest student in those stream are good enough to give us a run for our money and outshine us)... so to score better than average is the trend seen amongst the engg grads or medical grads in PSU jobs exams. so when we face interview where the panel consists of personnel having commerce or other background, there is bound for some friction to happen. no matter how well do you answer, they will try to show you that those interviewers are the bosses of ours over there. they will prove themselves that they knows more than us. they will show you that we engineers are not fit for them, and commerce students will perform better... whereas the reality is, in the banking world... knowledge is gained through practical/hands on experience. whatever we learnt in our graduation days are of least importance and that applies to people from all streams. so my advice is, just ignore these kinds of remarks, and in future if u do come across this kind of comments, tell yourself that ur degree has given them a complex (then again, i mean no ofence, candidates from other background should rate themselves that they knows more than us in this industry).... u can check out the thread no. 78 of this discussion, i have given the details of whatever interview i faced... and dont lose heart, this is not the end of the road...
