Loco, You should get ur letter soon and do check it for correctness(mine was incorrect last year). If you havent then verify from the UK consulate if they would accept a fax and if they do ask HSBC to fax it to you

Well my suggestion will be to look for careers,i.e. assume you are applying for a tech consulting job. And you may aslo want to simultaneously apply for a consulting job abroad(tcs has just opened a consulting office in london). I had similar considerations and had chosen Cambridge, but everyones ...
Before posting the clarifications I have, giving my profile - GMAT: 710 (V-81%, Q-90%) - Experience: 10+ years. IT domain - Acads: BE (Comp Sci & Engg). Good throughout - Current Role: Management position in an MNC firm. Based out of Bangalore, India Looking at pursuing MBA in fall of 2007/early 2008. Have some clarifications on the European colleges 1. If Tech Consulting is the career I am looking at, which are the colleges in Europe I should aim for? I know most of the folks having a good GMAT score and decent exp apply for the top European colleges. I don't want to fall into a trap of applying to top college without looking at whether it will help in my post MBA career. 2. Dilemma on 1 yr v/s 2 yr program: One of the main reasons I am looking at European colleges is the 1-year program option. Is this the correct strategy? I am not looking at a drastic career change. Looking at MBA program to further my career growth and enhance my profile. I understand the a 2 year program give a much better learning experience and gives many more options to the candidates. Looking at what I want to do post MBA and the current experience - should I concentrate only on a 1-year program?

Well it does meet the basic requirement, but then you are competing against people with uch higher work experiences,so you will need to show excellenece in other fields, plus do an early application. -Amit

Perfectly true. If you are looking for campus placements remain in India. LBS has the advantage of a 2 year course so it gets more time for placements e.g. the summer internships. You need to be practive in getting jobs. If you consider yourself lucky to have gotten into a college ,you will find...

You need to be practive in getting jobs. If you consider yourself lucky to have gotten into a college ,you will find yourself to be unluckier in the job scene. Its a real world out there & no one wants to hire the btottom half of the class.& neither has substancial relevant experience. If you cant do something well, dont do it.
Dose,
what is Ur source of Ur hypothetical CAM numbers. Dont tell me its the chain mail circulationg around with a chat with a desi Oxford student names "oxian"
hey Dose, Yes Folks spread far and wise has its advantae but thats never my style. In my opinions who are defines you not who all you know. Networking to me doesnt mean knowing numerous people it means having a reputation of being a good performer among other good performers. FYI CAM hasnt ann...
Why does Harvard need 1000 studente per year? Simple: Revenue and spread folks far and wide. Cam has also realised that the tiny class size is no good soon they are goin to make it twice the size today you dropped Ox because it was funded by Said? hmm
hey Dose, Yes Folks spread far and wise has its advantae but thats never my style. In my opinions who are defines you not who all you know. Networking to me doesnt mean knowing numerous people it means having a reputation of being a good performer among other good performers. FYI CAM hasnt announced any plans of expanding its class. As for OX I would wait till Cotober when its class profile comes out , I expect to see a drop in avg work experience. And yes being funded by Sayeed(or Said) was a minor reason. if you bother to read my complete post you will see the main reasons which are clearly mentioned rather than picking the masala that U want :-)
Well just to tell you all folks that all my stuff is sorted out. I got the visa approved yesterday and did the ticketing today, so I am all set. cheers -Amit

Well let me put in a work for Cambridge here, but before that the geral evaluation.
1) IMD:- Very good if you want to become a people manager. but asks for extensive people management experience.
2) insead:- Very good for strategy. But be prepapred to be multilingiual to compete in the continental european job market.
3)LBS:- The only 2 yr MBA. The fast track is only if U have done relevant course sin Ur bachelors. Exclelnt if you want a london bond street financial job.
4) Oxford:- Excellent brand value. But IMHO trying to scale up too fast.
As for Cambridge(JBS) it again has excellent brand value like Oxford. Excellent if you are interested in technology startup companies as its based in Silicon Fen.
Most improtantly the choice rests on your own future goals plus in getting thought the interview processes :-)
