2008-2012 - Prepared for a few competitive exams + Research Assistant in IISc., Bangalore (So, NO WORK EXPERIENCE, meaning 4 yrs gap!)

Now, have converted IIT Madras as well as IIM Kashipur.

Q1. What is the prospectus of me getting a good internship and a job with this 4 yrs gap? Is it very difficult? What needs to be done? Is a better established B-school like IITM better in handling this case or IIM Kashipur?

Q2. If i confirm that 'Yes, i do accept' to the admission offer of IIM Kashipur, does it hinder my chances of getting admits from the other new IIMs (if any), as they are all inter-related...for we had one common PI&WAT; for all of them?

Please help me choose between these two better by giving advantages and disadvantages Mr.Kapish Saini

Chances of getting good internship/job in any college rests with the candidate's ability to justify his current position(the same way you did during your b school interviews)...Any B-school for the matter of fact is there to provide you an opportunity...stop treating colleges as placement agencies...

Accepting an IIM admission offer will not hinder your chances of getting into any other IIM...

regarding ur first point, how do u expect aspirants to decide wat is their preference list at the time of GD-PI?
I mean the new IIMs are relatively on the same platform wid very little to differentiate them. Wouldnt it then be unfair on the aspirants to ask them to decide earlier itself? Ppl even after converting arent sure where to go, so espectin them to do the same at the time of GD is kinda difficult.
Also wat if sm1 has a change of mind later on? Is it fair that the guy missed on a college just bcs he screwed up his preference list? Also everyone would like to have more than one option in hand, so overlaps are more a demand than nething else.

ur 2nd and 3rd point i do agree wid

Preferential selection/prioritization of new IIMs is nothing but perception based judgments...I mean how do you differentiate??? Just on the basis of hearsay i guess!!!

For the second point I'd say that there are always black swans, hence the overlaps...

For the third one, waitlisted candidates are being notified by mail(read a post on IIM Ranchi converts thread on being waitlisted 1)....

Seniors, please update. When can we expect the final list of IIM-Ksp ?

Will it be a consolidated list (displayed on the site) or the same "Mailing" thing which IIM-Ranchi/Udaipur did ???

The term "Maintaining quality" was not intended for quality of students. It was intended for quality of education. Since these new IIMs lack infrastructure, permanent faculty and last year they did not even have a director. Inorder to maintain student to teacher ratio and provide basic infrastructure such as classrooms, hostel etc. they had to reduce their intake. Hope this year they have overcome these shortcomings and we can expect full intake.

We had adequate infrastructure to support 60 students last year and are upgrading the same to support 120 students. Most of the profs came down from lucknow to teach us () hence commenting over student-faculty ratio would not make any sense.
