While I have always felt personally that the new CAT exam is the reason for all this, I don't understand why people who say IIM K is a bad college are still so eager to apply and join here. There are, as pointed out hundreds of times, many better colleges. Join ISB,SPJ,IMT,MDI or..........

My point is, don't crib on PG. Do something more constructive. If you feel you are right organize a group movement. This cribbing won't get you a call. I know the shortlisting is not how it should have been, but many people here have lost track of the real issues.

I know this post is going to get groaned on a lot, and am looking forward to a century

Even though I am from K, I can understand how everyone feels. Even I feel the same way, the criteria is no longer fair. I hope the IIMs just admit that online CAT needs a lot of work and revert back to the paper cat. I remember a senior prof told me unofficially that IIM K was initially against online cat without more testing and data but was forced by other IIMs ( :cough: ) to toe the line :(

IMT is a good institute, certainly not the best but not the worst either. There are pros and cons of every college. While IIMs have lesser merit students coming through official quota, IMT too has a few coming through other channels ( A guy of IMTG-FT 2010 batch placed in IDBI had only 92% and no GDPI. Mods may pm if they need to verify his identity ) . The small number of such students doesn't affect the quality of the batch as a whole. You will find a few outliers ( both ways ) everywhere you go.

However the manner in which Mr Sherry has handled the situation is not correct and the students who have been suspended need PG and media's support.

Okay about the backdoor entries as the seniors said this probably is not the right forum to discuss here. That said, since you have asked the question why there is no official quota, it is because the management quota seats are not part of the shall-we-say-official-420-seats that IMT offers. The few quota seats if at all they exist are in addition to the 420.
So you see there is no compromise on the merit of the 420 seats. I may be wrong, seniors can confirm.

What Kunal said is true, there are no seats over and above the 420 mentioned.
