Hi All,
I finished my GD-PI on 18th Feb (Sunday).
My profile:
- GMAT - 640
- UG / XII / X - 85%, 93%, 82%
- Work ex - 20 months as on Apr1 (in IT).
My GD topic was: Women make successful managers than men.
The panel told us that the factors that they are noting are:
- Knowledge on the topic
- Listening abilities
- Relevance of your point wrt to the discussion
- Communication skills & body language
- Spl mention will be made if anyone displays "out-of-the-box" thinking
We were given 5 mins to prepare. After 20 mins of discussion, the panel intervened and told us we have 10 more mins, but we came to a conclusion in 3 mins.
The GD was very controlled. Though there were only 2 girls (Out of 10 people), there was no clash. I was able to intervene some 4-5 times.
During the PI, there were 3 panelists - 2 men, 1 woman & one Great Laker in my panel
The Panel questioned me about:
- Where am I staying?
- Any Landmark near my house
- Where is my college located
(Probably to make me feel at ease)
Then the first person P1 asked me my work ex.
- What is the maturity level I have gained in these 1.5 yrs.
- Is 1.5 yrs of IT experience enough to decide that I require a MBA?
And she asked me more about any "keywords" that i used in my answer like - Consulting, Case Studies, Analytical Skills, Team Work etc;
Then about my Reco - your manager has mentioned that you are submissive - do you agree? And some more questions related to it like - what if someone else gave you the same feedback, etc;
- About SWIM programme of Great Lakes.
Then after the she was done with the q's, the other panel took over.
P2: You have done your Chemical engineering, what made you select Chemical Engg.
- Girls generally don't take Chemical & prefer to take IT, CSC, ECE, EEE, why Chemical?
- After Chemical, why software?
- Your academic performance is very good, can I ask you questions in Chemical?
(After I said no problem)
- What is the raw material for tyre industry
- Is it an organic / inorganic compound?
- What is the formula? (I didn't know that & i told him)
So, the third person took over and asked me:
- What are your hobbies - I said reading books.
- What kind of books (I said Sidney Sheldon, Robin Cook, etc)
- What about music?
Then the PI got over, I thanked them for being patient with me and came out.:)
The Great Lakers were very helpful and friendly and motivated us to do better. All the best to all other applicants.

Hey folks!

Attended my GD/PI today and here's what I have to add:

1. Event organization was perfect and the Great Lakers were very helpful so if there's any stress you'll feel it only at the Interview.

2. The GD has both case studies and general topics - now that you're prepared stay calm - speak and let speak.

3. The Interview might be stressful (or was it just me!) but so is life so take it on and do your best.

Finally got my Admitcard.Centre Christ college bangalore.But these guys instead of sending it to my correspondence add sent it to my permanent residential add.Perhaps this was bcoz i did not send self addressed envelope.Anyway i m happy that instead of rejectin my application they took pains to look for my address in application form
