Should I apply?

Hi,

As we have stated in our previous posts, the cutoff for first list was 91 whereas couple of students got admission at around mid 80s as well. (This may increase this year).
But the GD PI call was made to all candidates fulfilling other criterion and having a minimum of 70 percentile. You may apply to DSM, but getting a call and converting looks a bit distant.

I would suggest you to apply for colleges which have their cutoffs in about the same range as your percentile to increase you conversion chances.

Hello,

I got 83 percentile in CAT 2010 and have 2.5 years of IT experience.

Btech :- 81%
12th:- 80%
10th:- 84%

I got shortlisted for IIMK but haven't filled any other forms. Can i get a call from DSM at this score, work exp. and acads.

Hi Varun,

Congratulations for clearing the Stage-1 @ IIMK and wish you good luck for the same.

As for DSM, you have a decent enough percentile to get a call for GD/PI. And since last year the weightage for GD/PI was lesser as compared to CAT Percentile, hence you may/may not convert the same. Your work-exp may work in your favor for the same though.

Hi Ramya,

No worries..!! I am here to solve your queries only. I had stated in my post that the list is just indicative and made out of my personal perception. Also, I did so due to the fact that if a person has a higher percentile than that then he/she would prefer b-schools of better repute comparatively.
Maybe DSE ie MIB and MHROD guys are a bit over-expecting. No offences to anyone. Even then I would be happy if their cutoffs are higher than my expectations.

Hi Darshan,

Last year due to NC-OBC applications being less in number candidates with 65 and above were called for GD/PI. Whereas the cutoff for first list was in 80s. But with a couple of OBC category seats left vacant the seats were offered to candidates with percentiles in 70s.

Hence, you should apply and hence await for a GD/PI call. Also, do not restrict and refrain yourself from applying for other b-schools as well.

I regret that the related stats for the same cannot be provided coz the placement season for DSM has just begun. Some of the recruiters include world's largest tyre manufacurer, a S&P;'s Financial Research Firm etc.

I am sorry it would not be ethical for me to provide these details as these remain confidential and we are not authorized to disclose the same. All the details shall be available by the end of the season ie around in March end.
