Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management (AKGIM) Ghaziabad organized SEBI sponsored workshop on financial Literacy on 15th of March 2012 under the series: Beyond Class rooms
AKGIM always believes in teaching beyond class rooms and conducts number of events throughout the year to facilitate the learning by students in a practical way.
Dr. Sharad Ranjan, professor from Delhi University an expert in the field was deputed by SEBI to conduct the proceedings at AKGIM campus.
The response from various Institutes in the NCR was excellent and they sent their students and faculties to seize golden opportunity in learning the finer points of capital markets and financial planning.
The main objective of the workshop was to increase financial literacy among the youth so that they are able to take sound investment decisions and plan at an early age to meet their financial goals.
It was an initiative of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to increase participation from all cross section of society and also to help the investors understand the precautions to be taken while investing.
The workshop was free of charge and was appreciated by 80 participants.
This workshop was organized by Prof. S.K Thukral and C.A Neeta Sahu in co-ordination with Shiv Shankar Srivastava.

Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program Retail Management

The Ministry of Micro Small & Medium Enterprise, Govt. of India has introduced Skill Development Scheme, which target young graduates to enhance the employability skill. The programme aims to improve the employability of young graduate who possesses or have acquired qualification but lag behind due to changing environment of corporate world. AKGIM always believe in quality education and also support in such initiative of Nation building. It is our pleasure that AKGIM has been assigned to take this assignment for providing value assistance in this regard. As per the direction of National Institute for Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, AKGIM has planned to conduct two month full time training programme on Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program Retail Management at AKGIM Campus starting from first week of March (the exact date and time plan will be communicated later). Please note that this is a programme with no cost to students. A free of cost initiative and is jointly organized by NIESBUD and AKGIM for entire two months session at AKGIM (non-residential). India is one of the top ten emerging retail markets all over the globe. There are approximately 4.3 million retail outlets spread over the nation, which require about 3.25 million retail personnel at present. With such a huge potential, retail management offers limitless job opportunities in supply chain, export houses and departmental stores. Manufacturing companies also recruit retail managers to reach out to the customers directly. Banking, finance and insurance companies also need professional retail managers to take their products directly to the customer. IT and IT enabled service companies particularly in the field of telecommunication also require large number of retail mangers considering the recent boom in this sector. Keeping in view the above, you are requested to nominate 8-10 students having inclination towards said managerial skill. Considering the course content, it is desired that students with Graduate degree in any discipline or preferably in the area of BBA, B.Com, B.Tech and BCA be nominated. Students appearing in final year may also like to opt for this course. Based on interest of students, you please ask the students to fill the attached format and send it directly to AKGIM. After successful completion of this course, the student will be awarded with Certificate jointly by NIESBUD and AKGIM

AKGIM opens admission process for PGDM .

ELIGIBILITY, SELECTION CRITERIA & SCHOLARSHIPS

At least 50% marks in graduation, from any AIU approved University. Those graduating in 2012 and will have their results later, may also apply.

Selection will be based on:
Valid CAT or MAT scores
Group discussion / Essay writing and personal interview performance.
Academic performance in graduation, Class X & Class XII


Scholarships for meritorious students:

1. B.Tech in related subjects with 1st class (60% marks) or equivalent where grades are awarded+ 50 percentile or above in MAT or other approved qualifying tests like CAT, XAT etc. Scholarship of Rs. 1,00,000/- Payable as fee waiver in two years
   

1. Graduation with 70 % marks or equivalent where grades are awarded and 50 percentile or above in MAT or other approved qualifying test like CAT, XAT etc. Scholarship of Rs.80,000/- Payable as fee waiver in two years
   

1. Candidate with 60% of marks in graduation + two years of work experience after graduation. Scholarship of Rs. 80,000/- Payable as fee waiver in two years
