these are just some of the questions of 10 rounds of QUIZ@TISS 6th edition held today in TISS by our alumnus Vijayan (1984 batch) and Arun (2007 batch).

its an intense fight all through out but with happy endings as quiz masters are generous in giving prizes to all the teams

our team of MAS (Manick, Anvesh,Shruti) came 3rd in the quizzing which tested every thing from operations, business, HR , general knowledge , movies etc etc...

one event which all the future batches should definetely look forward to

I attended a mock GD yesterday, which had a pool of call getters ranging from IIMs to TISS (Yours truly) to LIBA and IBS.

One of the GD topics was, "Are Gandhian ideals outdated?"

The only feedback I got was that if I get this topic in TISS, and say what I said, which was refer to "Gandhiji" as Gandhi, I'll possibly piss off the moderators. Somehow, I do not concur to that thought.

I do not think you will piss off the moderators at all. This is exactly the sort of myth that people outside TISS have about this place. Of course, if you show complete apathy towards the problems faced by the country, that won't help your chances much. But in TISS, you are allowed to have a personal opinion about Gandhi(ji) too. No problems with that at all.
Any place you go to, being true to yourself is the only thing that'll help you. That is what I've learnt. :)

Way to go everyone, who's made it! :)

The seniors from TISS will be there to tell you whatever they know about the GDPI process (rest assured, we don't know much :D).

Some initial pointers:

1. Go through as many previous years' threads as you can (most links posted in the post before this).
2. Read every word about your course from your brochure.
3. Be prepared for some serious grilling about your work-ex, if you have any. Freshers, be prepared with the basics of your field of undergraduate study.
4. Fill the DAF form after putting in some serious thought. Its very important.
5. TISS interviews are known to consist of questions about your state. So you should read well on this.
6. Its time to get aware about the burning questions of the day, starting with national and going on to international issues. More importantly, its crucial that you have an opinion on them.

I guess all this should form a good starting point. PM me for any queries or post them on this thread. Will try my best to reply and also get other current TISS students to reply.

This is what a highly respected classmate has got to say about GDPIs @ TISS - "GDs can go either way depending on the group. In case you have a noisy group, try your best not to add to the noise and try and knock some sense into your groupmates (Something to the tune of " If we dont collaborate and allow participation, the entire group would get disqualified").

For the PI, you need to be well prepared. Read up about your areas of interest, current affairs, prepare your answer to "Why HR" well and you should stand a good chance of making it.

However, please remember that selection into any BSchool is relative. you may be brilliant, but if 60 more are more brilliant than you are, then you will miss out. That doesnt mean that there is anything wrong with you. So chin up!!!"

Hey I am a first time MBA/MA aspirant, I have 3 yrs of HR Work Ex with an HR Outsourcing firm, I am very keen on HR as a profession since time immortal, I believe that apart from the objective section there is a subjective section as well, could you give me some idea about the array of topics that could come up in the 2nd portion of the test?

Apart from the above question is there anything else that I need to focus on from the test perspective itself, because I believe in taking it one step at a time, my email ID is , thanks in advance for your help.

1. No subjective portion if you apply only for HRM & LR. Check the model paper thoroughly.
