I recently read this thread and I am again like most of you here. Though, I have decided to go to UIUC for sure. I got $15k scholarship per year and had a skype interview as well. I would basically like to be in touch with other people planing to join Illinois. I have been and lived in Champaign so fee free to ask me any questions about that place or Midwest in general.

It would be a great help if you can post some info about living expense in Champaign and life in Champaign in general. If you can post names of some areas (or streets) which are near to school of business and where admits should look for accomodation.

All four seem equally good. I do agree with you, rankings are vague indicator. Other factors such as concentration you intend to finish your MBA with, school's location, networking opportunities et.al. must be looked at. Talking to current Indian students will definitely help.

@Deep: since you've been to UIUC, can you post your view on general pros and cons of UIUC?

I got an admit from UIUC recently. However, I have offers from Purdue, South Carolina and Ohio State as well. The schol amount in all of these univs is almost the same. So that's not the deciding factor.

Puys, please give your feedback (according to your knowledge and research) about these offers. I plan to do my MBA in Strategy Management.

UIUC - 46
Ohio State (Fisher) - 72
Purdue (Krannert) - 74
South Carolina (Moore) - 80


US NEWS RANKINGS (2010):

UIUC - 42
Ohio State (Fisher) - 21
Purdue (Krannert) - 36
South Carolina (Moore) - 62

Just for the info. Thought this would help. Other factors may be looked into.

Thanks for your wishes... I submitted my app on Jan 1 and got interview invite on Jan 5. I have interviewed on Jan 18 and waiting for final result.

From your other posts, I've come to know that you already have admits from Tulane, UIUC, W&M;, American (Kogod) and Case Western. Lucky man.... what else you want.
Will you prefer to join WFU over the schools you have already got into?

Thanks for the comment. I've been rejected by WFU. Frankly it wasn't on top of my list but I could have considered it seriously if I had an offer. Seeing the situation I don't think I would have gone in favour of WFU as I have good schols offered by all the Universities that I've been accepted to.

Hey I am sorry for the delay in replying. Actually wanted to be sure of the answers before i reply anything to you.

The finance professors at case are really good. One of the professor works with FED Cleveland. Case has a very strong faculty for finance.

The faculty overall is really good and you will learn a lot. The school might be low on rankings but i found th faculty to be good and most of my classmates would agree with this.

Regarding the job scenario, the first thing i would like to say is that it is really very difficult to find a job. You have to be very proactive. You have to work really hard to find a job. However if u are persistent with your job search, you will find a job. Almost everyone looking for a job has found one in the past, but till now none of the seniors (referring to international students) have found a job. The job scenario is definitely improving and hopefully things should be better by the time I finish the course.

Companies do come to campus for recruitment but its very different from the way its done in India. Over here the companies interested in hiring visit the campus during career fair. Many companies also come for information sessions. The key difference is that it is more kind of a platform to interact with the companies, but you have to apply to the companies yourself.

Cleveland is certainly not the best place to be in US. They call Cleveland the dying city. The winter is pretty harsh here. But some of the advantages are
the cost of living is much less than say NY.
The summer is really good. I have adjusted to cleveland and i feel that its not so bad.

Regarding other colleges, I was pretty late with my application process and hence couldnt get through a better school.
