i am Varun Somaiya and i am a part of the 2009-11 batch, and just by looking at the number of pages on this thread i can say that college has come a long way

there has been a lot of learning at IMT N and i give credit to the professors and the number of activities that we used to have

i am sure you would never regret being a part of this place and its a amazing 2 year stint

i currently work for Asian Paints in Mumbai and i can say that i have a pretty decent life

First my apologies to Gowri for not posting for a while due to the hectic placement work

Let me clear the confusion regarding Average package first

The data mentioned on the website has not yet been updated since Mandatory Disclosure requires final data and can be posted only at the end of the placement season and since the placement season for this year is still on, the data for this year has not been updated

As for now, the average package as Gowri mentioned is around 6.2Lacs and the minimum is 4Lacs

The Average package above is the weighted average and hence very accurate and not just a straight mean

The highest has been 9Lacs

you can apply depending on what stream you are looking at

You might have a chance in IT or HR because the cut off fot those courses is around 85-89

Hmmm the cut off issue is a little dynamic but one can only predict very roughly

In our batch (2009-11) the average Cat %le was 91

I think this year the cut off would be a little higher considering the improved rankings of the college and the fact that IMT N has come strong over its weaknessess

But the people who apply to IMT even in the common form are automatically segregated based on thier precentile and thier prefered area

People who do not get IMT G are offered IMT N and it depends on thier criteria if they take up or not and this has been the case since ever

So i dont think the IMT G factor would effect so much

Need this query to be resolved.

IMT N had lower cut offs then IMT G as last year there was an option of priority to be chosen in the form. So there were people who did not apply to IMT N as they prefer only tier 1 colleges. Now this year there NO rpiority or choice in the form. Owing to this, the cut offs are bound to increase as the person who applies to IMT G is automatically applying to IMT N. This can drastically increase cut offs and take it to the level of IMT G.

Hi Rishi,

In the above situation you can opt for a Finance and IT dual specialization, or you can opt for a core in one of them with a minor in the other

The learning opportunities are really good if you take the initiative

We have two annual IT conferneces and a huge event by the Finance forum which had very senior people coming to the college

Your learning would happen from the domain knowledge you get

We have the best of Economics profs and some really good finance profs too

On the IT front also the profs are good

Do go through the syllabus of IT to understand the kind of subjects that are offered

I am not sure about your chances to get a GDPI call but i suggest you apply for MBA IT as your first preference and that would help

Also to get a background of the profs in IT, go through thier profiles on the website

Hi,

TCS offers a common pay across tier 2 schools

It was 4.76 Lacs for freashers and 5.6-5.75 for work ex of more than 1 year

2.how is IMT N different form IMT G!!!

Hi Rohit,

You dont have any problems making a choice between IMT G and IMT N its an obvious choice you would go for IMT G

There are 2 tiers of B schools according to the recruiters Tier 1 and Tier 2

IMT N falls in the tier 2 category and is one of the best in it

Other schools that fall in this sect include Nirma, IMI, Fore, Tapmi, KJ, Welingkar etc

These are all treated at the same level by recruiters when it comes to the jobs

Every school has its own special set of companies which go to those schools

Apart from this, some schools end up in the crack in between Tier 1 and Tier 2

These include LIBA, XIMB etc

Finance profiles at IMT N include a wide variety like Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, Credit Analyst, Investment Banking Analyst

There have been some profiles in the Investments and Trading part also

Companies are various and we would be able to tell you the names of companies only post the placement season get over

Hope you dont mind this but its just to keep the non disclosure

30th was an awesome day

TCS recruited 36 students from IMT Nagpur

The count now is 130 students placed with 22 companies

The weighted average of the salaries is 6.22Lacs

There are 32 companies more to come
