Quant: 59.79%ile WTF?
DI: 74.37%ile :o

I had a feeling I might have screwed up DI a bit and might be around 90%, but NO WAY this low. And Quant? Well, I've been VERY good at it all my life and score high in GRE and GMAT quant sections. What the hell happened in this piddly CAT 2009 quant?!

PS: My CAT experience was harrowing too.... could start only 40 minutes late, at the 3rd attempt. Actually there was a message "candidature canceled" and the site test admins had to do some gadbadghotalajugaad to get me in. Pshaw!

I'm giving a shot at UW-Madison Fall 2010...... and a cpl of other schools. Desired specialization's gonna be the tech-mgmt program!

Here's my profile, going worst to best:
2 yrs after graduation consumed in two futile attempts in the UPSC exams. Learned a lot in life, GK and stuff.... no regrets. Even with 20/20 hindsight
GMAT: 660/800, 5.0/6.0. Sigh!
Undergrad B.Tech: 69%, which ain't bad for my neck of woods I guess... (University of Kerala's not so charitable with marks)
TOEFL: 110/120
Extra Curricular: Good - Quite a few prizes in Quizzes in a "career" spanning 12 yrs. Some of them in state regional and national level. No, I never got into BBC Mastermind/KBC... I've got 3 yrs in NCC with a couple of silver stripes too (if this counts at all!).
Work Exp: 4 yrs (by July '10) in Instrumentation & Control and little bit of Telecommunications and some serious Electrical switcgear: 2 Yrs in Power Plants and 2 yrs in Desalination Plants, District Cooling all over the Middle East. Not MUCH of first hand field experience.... more into site survey, feasibiliy studies, solutions, legwork, detailed design, proposals, documentation, price negotiations, testing & commissioning and handover.

Anyone review the profile and comment on my chances?
I know it ain't that good... even compared to so many puys here.

PS: Are we expected to show some kinda proof of all these claims of extra-curricular achievements? I'm abroad now and some of my certificates are locked up in my attic or something; nobody gives a fig for all that in my present job/job market. Gotta get my folks to dust the certificates just in case....

Gurujanon, I got a couple of poochs about the application process. Pleaj to answer onlee;

1. The online transaction ID (which one must affix on the supporting docs to be mailed) is the one which you find on your transaction activity log/bank statement, right? Or is it some University webpage generated thing or something?

2. I have forwarded the GMAT and TOEFL scores to GaTech Full Time MBA program through the testing services. Are we supposed to send paper reports too? I'm asking 'coz this is listed as part of the supporting docs to be snail mailed. I've got a GMAT report but not the TOEFL one. It's already the 3rd and I've heard the TOEFL paper report takes donkey's years to get home!

Brings me to my next question...

3. The deadline for GMAT/TOEFL score submission and submission of 3 Letters of Recommendation (online submission) is February 15, right? So is it okay if I send a 2nd envelope with the paper report of TOEFL before Feb 15?

4. "Degree Documents" is listed as part of the supporting docs to be mailed. What does this mean? Surely this ain't our original degree, right? Would an attested copy of the degree do?

5. The College Level Calculus pre-requisite:- My transcript says only "Engineering Mathematics-1" to "Engineering Mathematics-5" for 1st year to 5th Sem.... they're cool with this? I no, is it okay if I send a Univeristy verified detailed syllabus for B.Tech degree in my supporting docs envelope?

6. BTW, I have shown full amount for 1st year and about 1/2 for 2nd year..... and also checked the "I need financial assistance" box.
Some schools have a form listing expenses for 1st and 2nd year where you should show funding for 1st year and intent to pay for 2nd year. Gotta affix date and signature in ink too. Now, GaTech needs just our bank statement showing at least 1 yr funding (approx 40K USD)?

Here's my RAP sheet: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Desh, Masters in Aerospace Engineering (Controls) from Videsh. Got a work exp of like three years and I'm looking to join a Fall '10 MBA in a top US/UK school.

Yeah, it's kinda long term plan but I got to retake my TOEFL.... that expired long ago. I'll be taking that and my GMAT and IELTS in April-May 2009. Here's hoping PagalGuy can help me out like it has helped many folks all these years.
