No one can pin point and tell you definitively, that hey, X or Y is your problem.
What you can do is tell us in more detail why you think that your English is not good, is it just the scores, if so, then there can be different reasons to it.
Post your scores and maybe we will be able to derive some sense out of it, but IMO, English for competitive exams requires some specific things, just schooling from English Medium is not the criteria.

Post a detailed explanation of what you think is wrong, hopefully people out here will be able to help you. Most importantly, believe in yourself and your abilities, there is no need to stop believing in yourself.....just because you got low scores in a few exams does not indicate that your English is not up to the mark.

Actually my CAT verbal scores in 2010 and 2011 were 84 %tile and 40 %tile. Similarly for XAT too.

I feel my English is up to the mark but somehow my scores are not that great.
Yeah, one thing I would like to point out is my preparation strategy.
I try to mug up words as many as possible to increase my vocab, though that has helped me only a little bit.
I read articles from newspaper regularly.
I never have practiced RCs or any other stuffs. I think here is the flaw but whenever I pick up a book, I don't know how to approach that book.
I mean how can a person remember all grammar rules?

I want some serious suggestions from you.
I did my schooling from an English Medium school.
In my college too the medium of instruction was English.

I have no problem in reading or writing or speaking English (Stage fear is a different thing)
But when it comes to competitive exams like CAT or XAT or GMAT, my scores don't reflect the same.
Infact my scores are too low.

Please tell me where I am lacking?
Where is the fault in my strategy?
And what should I told so that my scores in Verbal section increase substantially.

May be I think I am good in English, but it may not be so.

1. Are Schwers Notes enough for clearing L1, (I am a below average aptitude person)

2. I saw the material mainly consisted of Quantitative problems. So is the exam totally based on Quantitative methods or is there any weight-age (%) to the theory based questions?

3. Daily 3 hours from now would be enough for JUNE examination?

NMAT TAKE 2
1.City , where the Exam was conducted & DATE :Bangalore, NMIMS, 30/12/11

2. Experience of the test :Better than previous, atleast the ambiance!

3. Overall Difficulty of the paper :
QA was moderate not easy (20 DI questions and that too calculation intensive) when compared to my 1st attempt.NO SITTERS, seriously none.

LR- 6 matrix type questions and 2 case-lets, a bit tough and some questions were time consuming...overall moderate...

LS - RCs were too tough. All questions were either summary, or what would weaken the argument or tone of the passage, NO direct question. Also 6 Synonyms and Antonyms. Overall it was Moderate to Difficult.

4. No of sitters : I couldn't find any.

5. No of questions attempted : ALL

6. Any surprise elements : A lot of questions with wrong options in QA and LR.

7. Any other suggestion : None

I am seriously thinking why did I go for Retake!! I am not sure of even getting 160+ and more to that I am not sure of getting 90+ in QA.

PS: - I got 92 in QA in 1st Attempt, LS failed me, in-fact the power failure in last 15 mins (while I was attempting LS section) failed me.

Can anybody tell me what will be asked in the test, I mean Aptitude + ....?
