This is to answer the specific query of - "My caste certificate has been issued AFTER the mentioned deadline of 1st April 2011 - Sept 28th 2011. Is it still eligible?"
Answer is Yes. Any certificate issued PRIOR to the above mentioned dates (ie before 1st April) is NOT valid.

Some other queries you may have-
1) I don't have a certificate backing a certain extra-curricular achievement. What do I do?

Ans- You cannot mention this on your application form as you MUST have a document backing this up. If you still think it is very important, you may want to mention it during your PI.

2) I have done an internship but it was not part of my academic career and it was voluntary. Where do I put it - extra-currics or internship?

Ans- If it is line with your future career goals (for eg- interned at HSBC) then put it in internship and mention details as specified. Do not put it in extra-currics either way, it does not make sense.

Hope preparation for WAT/PI is on in full swing. An observation - some of you are not filling the I-Mentor form (iMentor Participant Details (IIM-Indore)). If you don't fill this first and then ask to join our Facebook group (Log In | Facebook), we cannot do so.

Please FIRST fill in Google form for I-Mentor.

In the Facebook group, we have posted a list of possible topics for WAT. Again to prepare for it, please keep up to date with current affairs.

Right now I'd suggest you don't get too worried. As some seniors pointed out before, it can take some time. But I also suggest that you call up the admissions/ PGP dept (or both) and confirm. Do this asap.

In case you do not receive the mail by tomorrow evening, please do mail them. Tomorrow everything is closed, so reply should come by day after.

You should be getting a mail by post (if you live in India). NRIs usually have the entire communication by mail.

Wt can I expect for WAT?? Do they give a case study?

Well WAT comprises of 2 sections.

Part A - you would need to read a para and then write it in a more concise manner. This means, understanding the relevant points and writing that.

Part B - A topic would be given and you basically write your views/opinions. Usually they ask to back it up with some real-world data.

For eg last year, the WAT topic (for me) was something on declining importance of education due to different changes happening in our education system. It stated that if kids in earlier classes are not taught well, they will grow up with incomplete facts and hence not be good citizens of India.
So a real world example I used was that CBSE was making Xth board optional.

You may also want to go through previous years threads to see what types of topics they had.

Congratulations to all call-getters! Those who haven't gotten any calls yet, please don't lose hope and keep marching on. :)

I'm a current student at IIMI and if you have received a call, please do sign up for the iMentor program - iMentor Participant Details (IIM-Indore)

We will be allocating you with mentors who's profile would best fit yours and hence, would be able to answer any and all queries.

After reading some queries on here, I'd like to put in some answers based on my experience last year.

IIMA and IIMC did send both acceptance and reject e-mails separately.
IIMI's mail came a little later than for the CAT participants.

The only IIMs from which I heard nothing till I called them was IIMB and IIMK.

Congratulations to all the call-getters and to all those who didn't make it, please don't lose hope. There are other great things waiting for you!

Some important points that all call-getters should note-

1) Last year the WAT/PI started by March. If that's the case this year as well, you have just about a little more than a month to prepare. Here are some tips-
Read the papers!! ET, TOI, HT are all excellent choices. Know what's happening in the economy! Take the most talked about issues today and make sure you have your own opinions on them and you can back them with solid evidence. Being able to speak like this to the panelists will really impress them.
Read some articles from the business magazines like Forbes etc. A lot of insights and ideas can be gained.

So now that you have the call, use this forum to discuss different topics, ask questions to seniors and definitely register for I-Mentor (iMentor Participant Details (IIM-Indore)).

Those who have already registered, will be allotted mentors soon. Ask them relevant questions please! They too have lots of classes and other commitments.

2) Any relevant questions can of course be posted here. The MediaCom at IIMI and other seniors are constantly tracking this thread, so ask away! :)

Good luck to you all. Now that you have the call, convert it! And to do so, spend the next few weeks wisely!
