I want to withdraw my admission from FMS (general category) but am deterred by the prospect of having to fly to Delhi just to do that, as there's so much else going on that I need to focus my energy on. Can't I just send someone else to withdraw the admission for me? Is it necessary that I have to go?

I have personally left IIM I and K for FMS.

I agree IIM has a brand value, but FMS is also a brand in itself...it has 60 years behind it.

and moreover few years down the line rather than the brand your own hard work and intellectual would matter the most.

i agree accomodation is a bit problematic there. But I would still wonder that just for accomdation reason would it be a good decision to opt for IIM T, U over FMS. Try and compare other factors also like placements and all. Rest it depends upon one's priority.

P.S Me myself leaving IIM I,S for FMS.

i would suggest FMS anyday.

If u ask me personally, I wont suggest u anything.. but I would go for new IIM on any given day.. coz for me the tag IIM matters the most.. (its entirely personal)

Its upto each & every individual to decide.. Every institution has pros & cons.. I repeat every institution including IIMA,IIMB & IIMC..

we have to decide based on what we need from the institution.. coz I need IIM tag, I would go for new IIM.. Same way, someone else want good placement, good track record..they might choose FMS...

I can suggest you only thing.. before deciding, just ask two questions to urself...

1) 2 yrs down the line, what am I going to get from this institution??
2) 10 yrs down the line, what am I going to get from this institution??

& make a decision based on which college serves ur need better .. all the best :):)

@preeti topno certainly, FMS. without any second thought. I don't think even a single person will suggest u to go with new IIMs. people leave IIM L to join FMS.
if u have opportunity to join FMS, them go for it. I can bet u that u won't regret.
