i am very worried if they hahve rejected me during verification at my house.

my uncle has retired from mea cypher, thr is one 3 year wish posting in job time of your wish. he was 6 years in US, 3 years in kazakistan, one more posting (i dont know which country but not a bad one at all) rest in delhi throughout.. and all tours are of course with family with ALL expenses of the family members+education of children there.

General Assistant se baat karlo ek baar , lene se pahle.

Bhai clear the air abt postings of assistants in mea, is it delhi or in any passport office.And kindly enlighten on abroad postings.

all assistants get posting in delhi....very little/rare chance that u gt outside posting....99 percent delhi
only assistant in enforc off is outside(also in delhi ofc) becoz tht comes under enfor dirctorate and tht has 7-8 zones across the country toh usme bahar hota hai...
baaki sab chill maro assistants delhi based hai sab...

Initial posting is Delhi. Probation is for 2 years, then you can be sent anywhere in the world including passport offices in India.

And, ab jo maine SUNA hai wo batata hu - acche countries me posting ke liye tagadi rakam lagti hai. nahi to foreign posting refuse karo and stay in india, nahi to jaao rawanda ,uganda - poochte raho pichwada toilet paper se .

If you are mummy-papa ka baccha then you shouldn't go for MEA at all !!
On the whole, I think cypher is a lill more tough than general . You may be closely observed during foreign posting.
Gen. assistant may not have such a thing. {one good thing- you can get to try the flavour of the place you are posted in -if you know what i mean }



2 years initial probation ( i was told) then you are ready to go to Africa ! :D
lucky if your first posting is somewhere else. haha. There is no hard rule though.
But if you are taking general assistant, be ready to serve at any of the passport offices in India. ( luckliy , they are only in the cities )

Kim007 bhai saab thnk u for sharing info u r the first person who did this after result. r u already in mea or got this year or none of these. Mea was my first pref so nothing can b done now. Since this was my first attempt so two more chances for css should i opt css and railway over mea in cgl 2012. One last question what sud i choose between gen and cypher plz guide your answer is very important for me plz reply.

Choose whatever job YOU LIKE. If you are in MEA , you get to travel the world. Life is not easy ,sometimes unstable. If you are the adventerous type, you will like it. If you are the MUMMY-PAPA ka baccha, it may become boring/difficult after half a dozen years.
Depends totally on you.

Somebody has posted problems getting fixed with just one call from the secretariat. I dont know if you have talked to the people there ,but i tell you Assistants are at the bottom of the pyramid. If you think an assistant could weild infulence then .
Even section officers dont have a say in most of the matters.
The job of an assistant is to do the paperwork/file work correctly and forward it to SO. He takes his orders from SO, not from the IAS officer. They hardly even talk to the assistants let alone INFLUENCE them. lol

One more thing - MEA Cypher --> promotion is verrry slow. takes almost 15 years i was told.
MEA asst. promotion is faster.

MEA is delhi based....iske baad aap seedha bahar hi jaoge and posted in embasy...cheers

My foot its Delhi based. MEA assistants are sent to any of the passport offices strewn arcoss the country.
Thats where they spend most of the time (unless you are in cypher).

SaxenaBG, if you are assistant in MEA, you have to do the officers bidding ---> work like a dog. Can be deputed to any of the passport offices.

Cypher is better because you will not be directly under any IFS officer. It involves work of coding and decoding . But then, cypher also works night shifts. And, cypher works only in the embassy or in the headquarters.

Both have their pro's and cons.
