I have a suggestion for those who have decided to join IIMI EPGP 2012-13.

Many of our batch mates are placed and have returned to their respective locations. I suggest you get in touch with them and have small meetings in different cities to get a first hand understanding of how to go about the course from day one. Ideally try to get in touch with the placecom/alumni team members

I am currently in pune and will be more than happy to meet some of you. You can send me a PM to get my contact details. I can also try to speak to some of the other members to arrange a meet for other cities.

The EPGP hostel at IIM Indore (ER3) doesn't offer family accommodation in the sense we understand it, but some participants of the ongoing batch have stayed with their families (participant + spouse, and even participant + spouse + kid) for various lengths of time.

So with a little bit of adjustment, it's possible.

It was great interacting with all of you on this forum.

As the new batch takes over, I personally would like to thank the students of last year - Arunendra and gang, for sharing information and dispelling our doubts tirelessly.

A very different book to slot. One of those that come out of the true spirit of intellectual inquiry. Pankaj Mishra measures up to the largeness of the subject. One of my most rewarding, satisfying reads.


Bounce by Mathew Syed

A critical look into the concept of 'innate' or 'god-gifted talent' that the author says doesn't exist (Malcolm Gladwell more or less inferred the same in Outliers). Research says it's all hard work and nothing else. The author is a british table-tennis champion himself.

Consumer India: Inside the Indian Mind and Wallet by Dheeraj Sinha.

An observational survey of new age Indians, although a bit late in the day. Those interested in marketing, market research, consumer behaviour, psychology will find it useful.
