AICTE plans to allot unique Enrollment numbers to every Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM/PGPM/PGDBM, etc) student in every approved Indian business school and put them on its website in a bid to streamline admissions. Think of it as a Unique Identification Number project for all MBA students in AICTE-approved b-schools of India. The move would end up curtailing certain varieties of admission frauds rampant in Indian b-schools, until of course, new loopholes are uncovered.

The voucher sale and the registration for CAT 2009 is over and the final figure of the registrations is here. Contrary to the popular belief of the number of CAT applicants crossing the 3 lakh mark this year, the total number of applicants who registered for CAT till October 11, 2009 (Also the last date for registration) is 2,41,582. The total number of vouchers sold were 2,46,912, which means that around five thousand people chose not to register for CAT after buying the voucher which also includes people who bought multiple vouchers due to their confusion with the ‘edit’ option. Last Saturday, I attended a management event organized by Forum for Learning and Youth Leadership (FLY) at Bhaidas Auditorium in Ville Parle. After its encounter with the RTI case, the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi has decided to take no chances with this year’s admissions. It took more than a year for the institute to reveal the marks breakup for written test, group discussion, interview and extempore conducted for 2008 admissions. These marks were revealed a few days back and continuing in the flow of things, FMS has declared the breakup of marks and percentiles for all students who took the 2009 written test. The marks breakup for the interview process has also been revealed.
