    • matrix1231 NITIE is at par with IIM-L,K & I in placements and student quality. This year's cutoff for interview was 98.4 percentile. and its located at Mumbai, the finance hub of India. In rank its equal to IIT,IIM,IISc in HRD dept's 14 premier institute list. Its regarded best in Asia for Operations (with teachers going to IIM-A,B,C for guest lectures) And the course fee is 2.3lacs for 2 years. If you don't want to come, your wish. But noone should call any college shithole. Be sure abt your facts first.

    • anonymous I'm from Mumbai and just to let you know NITIE is a central govt institute. if you see its past record , 2008 - avg salary - Rs 13.2lacs 2007 - avg salary - Rs 10.4lacs So, why you are astonished, NITIE has performed equal to bottom three IIMs. They don't forge salary figure (they are central govt b-schools dude)

    • anonymous As one of my friend studies at NITIE;I can give a clear view. The figures are released so late b'coz the their placement cell was having some difficulty. All the placements are managed by students and they were out for their summer placement training in respective firms.these official figures were out in their college 2-3 months back, but not released to press.you can confirm this with any student there.

    • anonymous These figures are fudged for sure, I know a friend from nitie 2007-09 batch and according to him half of the batch was placed below 8 Lacs per annum. even the placement coordinator was placed at 8.5 lacs per annum in one of the consulting companies mentioned above, i wonder how can the median salary be 10.25 !!!

    • randeepsingh @profootball123.. dude i wud request you to complete your info.. if half the batch was placed below 8 then what abt remaining half? .. were they placed above 8 (which can make the mean to the given figures) or are they still um-placed ?
      #11 • 13 Sep '09 Like
    • anonymous There are total of 10-12 student placement coordinators in batch.(i'm sure) so, if one is placed at 8.5 then whts the matter? And NITIE is one of 5 or 6 b-schools this year which had 100% placements. No of seats last year for 4 courses 215+20+20+110=365 approx. frm them 1st 3 courses are management(through CAT) and 4th is Engg(by GATE) This year again like IIMs it has to increase seats for OBC.

    • matrix1231 Its a central government institute dude. Its course fee is 2.3lacs for 2 years. Its not S.P.Jain or MDI or other private b-schools which may have to elevate salary figures to attract more students. It gets its fund from HRD ministry. I have no doubt tht the figures are accurate... By the way in Sarkari colleges who cares to go for poking mind to fudge anything. They let the system work as it does for so long. :)

    • anonymous couple of clarifications..... 1. Average Placement figures are not in the hands of students(Who typically believe higher the average salary, better the college), do give some consideration to the STUDENT SYNDROME. 2. NITIE Profs being a "sarkari babus" dont care about wat their average salary looks like. it hardly matters to them, its just not one of his KPI's 3. @ some one who told, "so many went in at 4-5 lpa". There werent too many, and people have a good idea about how many at each of IIMs settled for similar figures. 4. @ Profootball - Says a lot about ur Placecom, not tat NITIE or any bschool placecom wud have been any better...but, some one in the Placecom has to get unlucky rite. 5. IIM Freak - Learn ur averages rite, if other half is unplaced, the figures cant theoritically get there. n guys, do not get the genuity of the figures in....we all know, wat each others are....high time, people stop acting smart out here.

    • anonymous NITIE is one of the premier institues of our country. No doubt after the recession its rank has shooted a lot due to higher number of placements in operations and lucrative jobs being proferred.I had read in an article in TOI in 2008 that summer placements salary shot up to Rs.100000 p.m. in NITIE and its currently No.3 in terms of placements.

    • anonymous if we want to see our country as a developed nation... then we have to leave this pathetic mentality of judging any institute on the basis of the salaries... every good institute focuses on developing good careers for the students not the starting packages... m not a NITIE supporter but i think we should concentrate on developing our careers , money will follow you.. and dont forget your motherland for the sake of money!!!

    • anonymous Who said NITIE doesnot fudge salary figures? Every damn b-school in India fudge it. Only difference is who is fudging to what extent. From the King to beggars of b-school world resort to this easy, cheap and nasty practice of inflating Average CTC to entice best students. But when students get admitted come to know about these its too late. The same students also get into supporting these practices to keep their rankings and relative salary figures in b-school tiers to lure both quality recruiters and prospective students. So it has become like trap. When every school is doing you cant escape it. So NITIE also cant escape it. I have many friends who passed out this year from NITIE. I was also linked to placement activities of my school. I know the entire batch was not placed within course completion time. Its true lot of guys got damn good placement even in the recessionary market scenario. But majority of the batch had to face great difficulty in getting placed. Many had to settle with very bad package and ordinary profiles esp the Fin guys. Many sought placement outside campus process of their own. So I am 100% sure the figure is inflated by at least 20%. NITIE guys can claim anything but the we guys learn at b-schools is how to smartly lie and sell ourselves.

    • anonymous "Every damn b-school in India fudge it". Aptly said Susmit........whosoever may claim what; any b-school grad knows what happens in reality......no point in mud-slinging.......its done by everyone and for sure no body would admit.......me passed out from one of the top b-schools in 2008......have a very close group of friends from many major b-schools across the country (including 3 IIM's)......and nobody among us disagree to this fact that fudging takes place........

    • howler why is there difference in the home page snippet and the full article? the home says marginal decrease. While full article says substantial decrease? At the home page: "The salary figures showed marginal decrease from that of last years. The highest salary decreased by a mere 2 percent; the average and the median by 8 and 2 percent respectively." In the full article: "The salary figures showed substantial decrease from that of last years. The highest salary decreased by 28 percent and the average by 22 percent."

    • DramaQueen NITIE is one of the best colleges of India and it doesn't need to prove anything. Placement@NITIE were always excellent. The placement report is a big moral booster for aspirants like us who will leave their 5-6 lakh job for MBA.

    • anonymous This is a sincere advice to all the bschool aspirants in the forum who get led away by the salaries published in the press releases: 1. Take a broad 20% markdown on the average and median salary that any bschool in India declares. All institutes gov/nov gov. play around with these figures 2. This year was exceptionally bad for placements for all bschools as we all know. Most bschools mark my words, most bschools except 3-4 have not been able to get 100% placements till date. But this does not mean that the situation won't be better next year, however at the same time 2008 salary levels fod bschool passouts may not come in till next 2-3 years. therefore salary must not be the only criteria for going in for an MBA. 3. 25-35% students passing out from almost any bschool in 2009 joined PSUs or nationalised banks. Most of these jobs though at a fairly good level are in the range of 4-6 Lacs with takshome varying between 25-30k. 4. It stupidity to say that a placecom was out on internship and thus did not publish the figures, in actual this is the time when most bschools go full out to HRs in most companies and the timing is perfect to bring out a placement report to be in the limelight. 5. This does not mean that NITIE is not a good college. It is a good institute for any engineer any day but for the salary part... JAGOO GRAHAK JAGOO

    • kamleshwar13 Hey puys...take a chill pill...if actual fig of avg. salary is 8 LPA also then it is a gud sign..and people who said placment s'd not b the only criteria to choose B-Sckool actually they are very much correct..pls chk other things also..like Faculty..visiting faculty..research papers..etc..and make gud profile salary will follow(Smbdy wrote) is true on our later stage of lyf...Also any insti especially govt insti..will not play wid thier image,so if there are some fudging also in placment then it cant be more than 10%...And if some people think NITIE is do'g this and that..blah blah...then pls dont apply..there are lacs of people who are lined up for admission... • anonymous I guess we need to think of condition before quoing anything. In NITIE, 2009 placement must have started in Jan 2009 when the market was too bad. In that condition giving 100% placement was itself a challenge. Checkout the colleges who placed their all students. I am sure not more than 10 or 15 top B Scools placed their students. Which itself shows NITIE is very good college to go in.

    • jashan83 HI GOT TO SEE MANY COMMENTS ON THIS REPORT. 2 THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT 1. NITIE IS A GOVT INSTITUTE HENCE IT IS BOUND BY RTI RULES. HENCE IT CANNOT FUDGE THE DATA. IF SOMEONE HAS A DOUBT HE CAN FILE A RTI AND WILL GET THE ANSWER. 2. NITIE IS A CENTER OF EXCELLENCE ALONG WITH THE IIM'S & IIT'S. IT HAS ITS STRENGTHS AND POWER BASES. HENCE TO HAVE 100% PLACEMENTS WAS ALWAYS EXPECTED AND WHATEVER TIME IT MAY TAKE ALSO AS A PROOF TO THE QUALITY OF PLACEMENTS, THEY GOT OVER IN 3 DAYS THIS TIME. IF SOMEONE HAS ANY DOUBTS THEY CAN ASK THEIR FRIENDS IN NITIE :)
