Season III saw 684 pages in 11 months
We did well people

However, it became infamous for the mush, too many personal details and over all gloom that some questions brought.

Who is to complain when someone wants to write their life's details on a forum? But in the interest of the public at large and maintain the foot falls at the new season we have old guidelines plus a couple of new ones.

  1. ONLY one question a day. Mention Date and put the question.
  2. All cheesy questions will find their way out.
  3. Any noob who wishes to post/has posted shall be sent a PM re-iterating the rules.
  4. A user shall not post questions twice a week. One per week is fine.
  5. Anyone who wishes to share his/her happiness shall keep the topic as "My 2 cents".
  6. All crappy questions shall be removed without intimating the user.
  7. No personal attacks. :nono:
  8. No ill treatment of the fairer gender.
  9. No suggestive posts
  10. No double meaning posts
  11. No slang
  12. No posts where you mention a person's name who is or is not on PG as he/she might not like it. In case you are sure they will not be bothered, feel free to use. Mods should not get complaints from the person mentioned in the post.
  13. Regulars to the thread, please make this post "favorite" to keep for ready reference to give to noobs
  14. Please quote the questions sensibly. If possible, copy the question only.
  15. Let us try not to divulge dirty details of our life. Somethings are better left un-shared with the masses.
  16. Let us try to make this season more discussion based. I am sure we have tun out of questions to ask.
Hope we fare-well this year too.

Love,
PP

P.S.- Today and tomorrow the thread is open only for suggestions. Post 21st April, all posts after this one shall be consolidated to one. We shall choose the best suggestions and put it up.

Suggestion

There are times when nobody comes forward to post a question, so when such a thing happens, members should have the liberty to post a question the next morning even if they have already posted a question in that week (bypassing the one question per week rule).

Good one PP

But i have one doubt for this point "A user shall not post questions twice a week. One per week is fine. "
How will i/we know who is posting a question, there are many people in PG how will one know who is posting question? is there any Schedule..?
For example user X is posting 1 question today how can another user come to know about tat.. sometimes it happens that 2 two users post question in gap of few min..hope you understood my question 😃

NOW I understood you question.. LOL

Well, In that case after the second user has posted a question he/she can surely see that a question has already been posted. Thus, the second user must snip the question and let the first user go ahead with the question.

Also, Everyone can make sure that once they post a question, they don't post another one before 7 days, will make life easier.

:) 😃 😃

@PP

Tenth point of No suggesting posts is never seen on PoH...
Puys and pirls always suggest or sympathize with a person(which i personally appreciate) who post a touchy story or incident...
So all those post are in ambit of No Suggesting post, should puys refrain from such posts or they are free to do so...

PS-I scarcely post on PoH but i like the thread very much..

Ohh le, main toh question hi poochne laga tha.

then i saw your PS.

anyway, sharing of personal details here has always been the major concern expressed by users.

in my opinion, there is nothing right or wrong. :)
some like sharing their things and some don't.
some feel happy on sharing and some don't.

if you want to share then you are welcome to do that.
but it is then your responsibility to share it in such a way that personal details are not disclosed.

i know i am writing too much but i believe you all are mature ones and are accountable enough. :)

rest PP has given a loooong list for you all to remember.

don't be amazed to see me here i also come her scanner in this thread. :D
cheers.

Too much regulation @PP most of the time chaos happens because of newbies so ths rules wont stop them from committing mistakes

Just Qs and answer :sneaky: sounds like interview  related posts to answer shd be allowed (as Lyman said )

just a suggestion

PS: and those thing that u mentioned which shd not happen ,happens all over PG so why only this thread is under strict regulation This is like traffic police always targets certain ppl while cheking docs and all () I am not saying that we want to break the rules but just a question 😃 No disrespect meant to MODs (they do amazing work)

I guess by 'suggestive posts' she meant posts suggesting something indecent or vulgar. Am I right or my English is still in a pathetic state?

Perhaps we could modify the rule of not answering questions more than a day old :

If you wish to avoid multi-quoting, make the rule as this :-

Posting on old questions is allowed as long as you do not quote more than 2 or 3 questions at a time, those 2 or 3 questions may include any...old & new...so that people may choose questions to their liking (at most 3 at a time), even if they missed a good question and it's become more than a day old....

Mods can ofcourse delete long droll answers which quote too much....

PS :
in my opinion, quoting 3 questions is not too much....and if someone's doing that it will not be too frequent because he/she will post only once in 3 days.
Also i would personally like to choose what questions to answer, even old ones....

As much as I appreciate few of the new rules here, I also believe too much of regulation might take the fun quotient away. As the thread progresses, and as puys' interactions and exposures to the PoH thread increase, some level of maturity is bound to come.

Every off-the-topic, unpleasant incident on this thread has been because of provocative posts by newbies. If we just stop responding to such posts, and send a PM to moderators to remove such content, there should be no problem. As mature puys, we must not get carried away, and must restrain from quoting and moral-policing the person in public - it only keeps making matters worse and suddenly everyone participates on unproductive posts.

PS: Personally okay with the "Don't reply to questions more than one day old". It disrupts the flow of the thread, and sometimes few posts become way too long because of multi-quoting. No offense meant to anyone, just my personal opinion.

A suggestion: Whenever we have posts that prompt users to post photos, or sometimes puys just post photos to share their memories, few puys post photos whose sizes are so big one has to keep scrolling sideways, up and down. As a result, it becomes difficult to follow any sort of content on those particular pages. Even if one has to 'Thank' the post, one has to keep scrolling someway or the other. Hence, kindly edit photos to suit the page, considering page aesthetics 😁

Well, I have only added 2 new ones here, rest all of them already were there. Also like I said they are guidelines, this is not a AIWSAC thread that we delete the posts that give a guideline or two a miss. Infact for the past 3 seasons no mod has done that. About the user's maturity, I am can say it for sure that its all subjective. People become stubborn about their point even if deep down they know it is wrong. No one can predict that and similar instances.

Also about the replying to the previous questions, for mods to snip the posts shall be gruesome as we post here off and on. If users can take the responsibility, I can change it to 2-3 questions in a post.

And like Rahi mentioned, Suggestive means un-parliamentary.

About posting more than 1 questions per week per user, I get many requests by users who wish to post questions, but do not get a chance. This rule for a couple of weeks might help them. It is even okay to NOT have a question for one day.

Cheers,
PP

as it is, an instance of someone quoting more than 1 question will not be frequent if everyone posts everyday.
if someone misses a day, even then quoting 2 questions is not much, provided that users can keep their answers concise....
furthermore, if someone is coming to the thread after a while, by rule he/she will not more than 3 questions and should keep the answers short and crisp....

Makes sense.
Shall edit suitable. :)
Thanks!

Im sorry to say but too many guidelines will see less of good posters on this thread. The thread comes under chit-chat, right?

Some of the problems that I have noticed in the last season.

1) There are some who multi-quote NOT the answers, but excerpts from someone elses answer and then they post their reply to/comment upon it. And they multi-quote not just one or two persons, but sometimes more than 5, and hence end up consuming the most space in that particular page, and that too with replies that may not interest anyone else other than those who are quoted. So multi-quoting people or their answers just for the heck of it should not be on anymore. Quoting/replying/empathising with somebody is a different affair, but quoting more than 4-6 people just to express your opinion, or cross-questioning them is kinda annoying. So this is that.

2) Posts should not be written in non-English standard (Read: SMS lingoes) Posts could be written in Hindi, but that would fetch low number of readers because some of the users are not comfy in Hindi. So it should be tried to utmost that replies are in English so that everyone can give your post a peek, or else the writers loss of readers is at stake.
3) One-week timeline for not posting another question is a bit too much, in most peoples opinion. Sometimes, less activity takes place on this thread, and nobody (including me) cares to put up a question for the day. In that case, the guy/gal who is a regular takes the pain to post a question and keep up the activity on the thread. Why stop them from doing it? If someone has not posted a question till morning then anybody can post a question even if its his/her second or third question of the week.
4) I agree with Mukulspock that multi-answering should be allowed. Some puys are busy and dont log in to PoH to answer question each day and so they multi-quote their answers sometimes. And their answers are too good to impose any restrictions (anwesa09, rahice, geekygirl, gudda1122, and, of course, yours too) So this should be allowed to at the max 3 answers in a post. Their answers in multi-quoting deserve any level of scrolling up, down, left, right, centre, everywhere and anywhere.
5) Whats sharable and whats not topic has cropped up so many times in PoH-III also. And its juvenile and exasperating to an extent now. As Raghav sir said, its highly subjective, and can never be judged as right or wrong. In the end it all boils down to what you believe in. And influencing someones belief should not be our business, should it, and that too when we dont at all know whats deep down in someones mind? (No one knows knows that, as a matter of fact!) Some emotional posts in PoH-III have seen a great support from fellow puys, and so I think it's not that harmful as some say.

Rest all is awesome!
