It takes chances to make changes and if the dream is big enough, the facts dont count- Danielle Benfield

I had a dream , which started to take shape when I got a decent percentile in cat 2009. These three letters- IIM fascinated me like others and I got to live my dream when I landed in IIM rohtak. I was going to be a proud member of its inaugural batch- this very thought excited me to no end. Yet I was nervous as it was my first time in hostel and I wasnt sure of what was waiting for me out there.
Day 1-29 June 2010
I took out my bike and started for what was going to be my alma-mater. After about an hour drive( 65 kms from delhi) ,filled with all sorts of emotions ,I was greeted with big sign boards saying- IIM ROHTAK. It pumped up my chest with pride. As I entered the MDU campus, I was amazed to see its enormity. Sprawling 740 acres of beautiful, plush green campus before me. So much to explore about it. We all gathered at about 12 in the afternoon. Dignitaries from IIM lucknow greeted us all. I met all my batch mates for the first time and was amazed to see their profile. Our Hostel block is totally new with big rooms and a large mess( got a big LCD just now).food is great. Of course we have a lounge room coming up with ultra-modern facilities.
Day 2- 30th June 2010
We had a formal inauguration attended by Mr. Ravi Kant- VC Tata motors(chairman BOG, IIM Rohtak), Director- Dr. Devi Singh and senior faculty members from IIM L who instilled so much confidence in us with their great visions about our college. The college has an unexplainable aura about it which I would refer to as the IIM EFFECT. I got to see what exactly is this thing IIM about. The pride, which comes with this tag can only be experienced by an IIMian. Got a big stack of books and it was like a first brush with how lifes gonna be as an IIM student.
Thereafter we got a chance to explore our campus- and my lord, huge facilities are there.
A huge library, rocking sports complex with gymnasium, swimming pool and courts, state-of-the-art auditoriums, FULLY WIFI campus with ultimate speed and what not? Fantabulous, mesmerizing, awesome- these adjectives just sound like euphemism.
DAY 3- 1st july 2010
We were greeted by prof Anand and prof N K gupta ( IIM L) who initiated our formal induction. To quote our profs words- in classroom we are your teachers, and outside, we are your parents. Lectures from IIM alumni propelled us to gear up for the challenges ahead and make us proud.
There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.
I am proud of my batch-mates as they are so down to earth even after having such great backgrounds. Everybody here shares a vision and is fully dedicated to achieve it.
We are the pioneer batch.:)Challenges beckon us, but these challenges will hold us in good stead as they instill in us a feeling of responsibility and give us the drive to do that something extra which will lead IIM rohtak to What it has strived for..
Sometimes you cannot believe what you see. You have to believe what you feel. I feel at the top right now and I know my batch mates feel the same.

The secret to success is to start from scratch and keep on scratching- dennis green

@ Ankush87: Great to hear about IIM R. Being from Haryana, it makes me proud to see an IIM coming up in my state.

keep posting guys:cheerio:

life@IIM Rohtak is not just about getting a PGDM frm an IIM , not just about spending sleepless nights , doing huge number of case studies or making presentation n all..but sumthing lot more than that.
everybody here has dreams in der eyes...they hv vision to fulfil der drms and surely do much more than tat fr d upcoming 2 yrs...but we r not like other IIMs who hv tradition , who have secrets to hide, who hv rules to maintain ...We are our own game makers..wat we hv learnt frm our induction module ,from the lectures from Director- Dr. Devi Singh and senior faculty members from IIM L, the alumnus of IIMs , is the same...we are the flag bearer of this institution..wat we wll do wll remain frever in the upcoming years..its huge responsibility as well as huge opportunity to b a part of history...and it's nt at all easy...it's enomously difficult like completing the huge stack of books given on the 1st day...
as per the campus its just outstanding..its mammoth...greenary soothes my eyes a lottt....every facilities are der that should b der in a campus..from wifi to sports complex....frm huge library to soothing architectural building.. and the most important thing s tat,, one cant feel the heat of being an IIMian wthout being in an IIM.:).the so called IIM feel...
an yes the hostel rooms....I havnt seen such big room in any hostel...:):)....and yes a huge dining hall wth LCD TV......and food... it's just ravishing , mouthwatering..(i m just running out of words )...
and at the last but not the least the experiencing for the first 4 dyas is outstanding..hope this wll remain fr the rest of days..:)..i knw challenges and presssure is waiting out der...but everybdy knws ,under pressure we perform our best.....hope we wll make our flag higher and higher...

It has been a great 1st few days @IIM,Rohtak.....the initial fears were all dispelled when i stepped into the campus......the campus has state of the art academic block with all modern amenities, excellent classrooms, and great sofas too 😃 ...the hostel is brilliantly designed and looks fabulous.....the rooms are huge and provided with comfortable sleepwell mattresses and pillows :)....the mess food is excellent ....the induction days were great experience for all of us with world-class faculty and industry experts sharing their thoughts with us....the coming few days hold a lot of challenges and interesting times for us......for the moment, the sceptic in me surely RESTs IN PEACE!!....let the fun ride begin

A few more things i would like to share with everyone...

1. The CAT percentiles of a majority of our batch is around 99.50%

2. IIM,Rohatk is located just 70 kms away from our national capital Delhi....giving it arguably the best possible location for a top notch B-school....and we all know what happened of IIT's at Mumbai and Delhi, didn't do too bad.........they have reached the top in only a decade...so location does matter.....Period.

Finally a sigh of relief. After what seemed to be a whirlwind first month at IIM Rohtak we finally get a day off(though we have two very tough quizzes the very next day,so better not get too happy). The first month here has been an eventful beginning to our journey, with all of us experiencing thoughts and ideas never contemplated before and learning way beyond the paradigms we were all used to. To say that IIM Rohtak has changed us would be an understatement,it has brought about the beginning of a transformation,a metamorphosis. This metamorphosis has begun gathering pace and this can be credited to a large number of intermingled factors. Be it our rigourous daily routine, the phenomenal knowledge transfer from our faculty or the peer learning, they have all contributed to what has been a learning experience which has already surpassed all that we have previously been through and yet promises to grow manifold;for this is just the beginning and if it's anything to go by,the future is full of promise.
We have had the opportunity to interact with and learn from some of the best teachers in the country and we on our part have been as greedy as we can in gleaning as much knowledge from them as possible. Along with our faculty our admin staff has worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth functioning of the institute along with making our hostel as comfortable as possible, and for this we can't appreciate them enough.Along with them, the difference makers have been my classmates. We are indeed fortunate to have such diversity amongst our batch, with people from all parts of the country and with varied skills and interests. The camaraderie amongst the batch has been the factor which has motivated each of us to think and act for the batch and put the collective ahead of the individual. Each of us has added to the batch in his/her unique way and the batch as a whole has reveled in this variance by incorporating each members strengths to create an atmosphere conducive for not only academic learning but learning from each other which is as important,if not more.
Being the inaugural batch has stoked in all of us a fire, the fire to perform and the fire to excel. We know that we and our actions will be inextricably linked with IIM Rohtak forever and this has evoked a tremendous sense of anticipation as well as responsibility in each and everyone of us. The realisation that we are the ones who will usher in the dawn for IIM Rohtak has awakened in us the desire to think beyond where we've thought before,to go to places previously thought unreachable and to scale heights previously thought unscalable.
Here's hoping this fire keeps growing bigger and brighter and lights the way not only for us but for all those to follow

Venkat

Against all odds, IIM Rohtak and more importantly its students seem to be very courageous in moving forward with their B-School.

Only 'flying' faculty at youngest IIM - India - The Times of India

I am sure that the B-School will remember its inaugural batch of 2012 :D

Best of Luck for all the future success yet again

IIM Rohtak, been here for a month now and I thought I must write and tell people about the latest IIM.. :-o
Sleepless nights, projects, presentations, quizzes, assignments and several other MBA stuff common to all IIMs are here but theres a life beyond them here.
We do not have our own campus at present but this place doesnt counts much less - IIM Lucknow - Noida campus replica classrooms, updated library, IIM Lucknow professors, really big Hostel rooms (sometimes its like why have they wasted so much space, we would have been equally happy in a room 3/4th of this one), an awesome mess, state of the art Students Activity Centre, huge Auditorium (a tribute to Mohd. Rafi is being organised in it on 31st this month), a big swimming pool, grounds for track and field events, cricket, football, basketball courts..
I believed in the mentoring ability of IIM Lucknow, I believed in the brand name but what I am receiving here is beyond expectations. A sprinkle of really brilliant engineers from IITs, NITs, RECs. Each one equally zealous, following his/ her dream, believing in oneself and the institute, excited to be a part of history, excited to create history. Everyone has big plans for the institute, we revere our Alma Mater and are working to make it a big brand. A positive aspect of our small batch size is that we are now a close knit group of intellectuals - any problem of a batchmate is provided with 48 wonderful solutions. And seeing the batch profile we are sure of - huge positive additions in our personality, great friends and better placements. We are dream followers, see it to believe it.

Great to see IIM-Rohtak taking strides,it takes me back to my hometown.keep posting guys. All the best

A new year reflects a new begginning. So We at IIM Rohtak are reviving this thread to share, what the last year has been like.
Believe me, everyday started with new synergies and ended with beautiful memories.

IIM ROHTAK

You have been selected for the PGPM programme at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak .
These were the words in a mail I received on 27th June 2010 while I was working on the internet in a cyber cafe. My immediate reaction was of utter joy and disbelief at the same time. I read the mail again, and indeed I had made it to an IIM, a dream I had been pursuing for the last two long years. It felt like the fruition of all my hard work and effort over the last two years. It was without a doubt the best day of my life so far.
However, there were still some difficult questions before me. I had converts from lots of other established and reputed B-Schools including MDI, IMT, and NMIMS. I had to choose whether to go for an established B-school, or to bet on a new IIM with no history behind it. There were some fears initially about the quality of facilities, both infrastructure-wise and academically, that the first batch would get. With no alumni or seniors to support us, it was going to be a journey on uncharted terrain.
Fast forward six months, and as I sit down today to write down about my experiences here, I can honestly say that these have been the best six months of my life. It has been a roller coaster ride with more highs than lows. The quality of infrastructural facilities here has been excellent, with modernized classrooms, excellent sports facilities, very comfortable hostel rooms and a great mess.
The first few days at the campus were quite hectic, with lots of classes, guest lectures and other such activities. The faculty, all world class with many of them being internationally reputed names in their areas of expertise, made us feel comfortable and at home. The learning environment all along has been excellent, with some of the brightest brains in the country exchanging ideas and discussing management concepts. It was a pleasant surprise to know that three of our batch-mates had CAT percentiles in excess of 99.90.
The best thing I have felt here is the sense of camaraderie amongst the batch. We have always stood by each other in thick and thin, and have helped each other in all possible ways. We have crossed all barriers in trying to help each other .I have personally made some great friends here, who I believe will remain so lifelong. All in all, it has been truly wonderful to study with such a great group of talented, enthusiastic, and lively people.
Weekends have provided some opportunity to play sports. I started playing tennis for the first time here, and have enjoyed it thoroughly. We have regularly organised sporting events in our campus, starting with RunSangram, a cricket tournament on the lines of the IPL. Apart from that, we have organised tournaments for many other sports including Carom, Chess, and Table tennis, and all of these attracted the attention of the entire batch. We have had loads of fun during these, and the camaraderie between the batch has been further strengthened by these events. Yours truly got the honour of being crowned the table tennis champion of our batch.
With the third trimester going on now, and the process for choosing electives for the second year underway , it feels strange that almost a year has passed without anyone even realising it. It still feels as if it was only yesterday that we landed here in Rohtak. Time has flown by very fast , and the winds of change have swept all of us in the last one year. I had some fears and suspicions at the time of joining this college, but now I can honestly say that it has been one of the best experiences of my life and the sceptic in me lies completely at rest.

ohh!! two trimester passed on wthin a blink of my eyes..hardly i gt time to come bck PG..reasons are so many...whole lot of assignments projects surprise quizzes..presentations..guest lectures, xams tat left us with tears, manac books tat left us wth no clues:lookround::lookround:..but above all the fun part... the participation in competitions wthout knwing wat to do.(it's like searching fr answers wthout knwing questions).surprisingly winning competitions ..preparing play for fest in IIML..being an owner of team in our own cricket league(RUNSANGRAM)..late n8 party after xams...:drinking::drinking:making clubs...fighting for making CVs, preparing fr interview...ohh the list is neverending....
and ys our enthusiastic new director just put us on a rocket bus...a whole new programmes are on que....including new fests n all..so lyf is moving rele fast here.. and this is just making me feel hw correct i ws in choosing this IIM Rohtak over others...
well it's time to study fr quiz 2mrw..wll keep PG updated with new coming ups...ciao
