I've been wanting to start this thread for sometime. Now that we've (that includes Chandoo) finally reached the campus, we can start posting some, if not all, of our experiences here.

To start with, I'll settle with a mention to a link that contains our first day experiences at IIMI:

Ofcourse he is in here. He's probably sleeping now... after a long time. ;-)

Much has been written about the rigour and load in the IIMs, but still I was having a predilection that all was exaggerated. But boy, its extremely rigorous. We (all of regular PGites here... whencool, chandoo etc) hardly slept for 2 to 3 hrs this week.

Today looks a little promising - maybe able to catch 5 hours. Desperately need it. It is really not turning out to be a joke to keep studying for 6 to 8 hours everyday, apart from the group meetings etc. And its a normal day, not even exam time.

We generally have classes from 9 to 1.00 pm. Since we have a Yoga class in the morning, can't do much work near the dawn... so gotta slog only in the evenings/late nights. But despite all this, we settled to dancing and partying last Saturday. Some of us occasionally managed to watch brief stretches of Soccer. :)
More later...

aloha...

What a week it has been. Started off with a whirl of cases and submissions and what not. Ended with the cultural night and informal fight between section A and section B of the class. After rounds of ROFLs the actual party started. Limited Booze, unlimited fun. Melting Pot ( our disco plane ) is full of smoke, sound and energy. It lasted till sometime in the morning. Later on the lazy sunday came. time for washing clothes and catching a trip to city.
Next week seems to be better :P

Adios ,
Chandoo

OUR INFORMAL FRESHERS PARTY
Well, it s finally done. Our seniors have finally finally welcomed us to the fold of IIM Indore, officially, that is. Although we have felt welcomed from the day we walked into the campus, it was only yesterday that the actual welcoming took place.

It started off with both sections of PGP 1 performing cultural activities like skits, song and dance routines, etc. I personally was involved in a skit in a small way. I had to play one of the members of the Placement Committee and public opinion has it that I did a good job of it. I guess all those years of imitating people, the way they talk, the way they talk and generally their attitudes has paid off in a small way.

After the formal cultural routine, we had our usual let-down your hair sort of party with the works, ie, drinks, dance and sexy disco lights. The party started at around midnight and went on till something like 5 AM by which time both PGP batches had pretty much exhausted themselves out. In any case, it was an awesome party by any standards. Wonder how many more such parties well have.

Signing off.Jam

I guess we IIMB guys are the most jobless now .Though the first week was hell the second week has been super cool 😛 I haven't touched any of my textbooks in the last week.....I am not kidding.I am easily managing 6-8 hours of sleep every day.Rest of the time is spent in playing sports, partying and generally goofing around. It's not me alone...90% of the junta are like that

Though the first week was hell the second week has been super cool 😛

😐 Things have eased a bit here too... its not as bad as before... but then, 6 to 8 hrs slep is a luxury. This Sunday was super-cool.... games, Gym and Partying all the way... but otherwise, no much change.

 Now, don't get me started. Its 2, and there is no sign of sleep in the next 3 hrs atleast. I'm takin a break now.

hi

this is the first time i am writing my reponse for pg....well it is a wonderful site...coming back to the response i think IIMB was really a rocking place in terms of everything...in terms of studies to parties.....and the life at IIMB was described very well by some people there.....i think IIMI guys should put in something more while describing life at IIMI so that somebody atleast wants 2 read and be there one day...sorry but thats the truth

must say great site

Muskan

Hey muskan...

refer to the following blogs..

http://mahabore.blogspot.com
http://govar.blogspot.com
http://modusindoramus.blogspot.com
well, one more guy called Ajinkya is maintaining a blog i guess. dont remember the url.
the thing why we cant post over here is... pretty obvious, its damn rigorous man. I am not sayin that we dont have time to do anything outside acads...
to quote Govar da...

On an average, there are some 60 odd pages of book to read, a case study to do, and some other group presentation/preparation work in a day. All this easily consumes all the available time, leaving 5 to 6 hours for sleep. So, the conclusion is, anything extra I do - chatting, browsing, blogging, playing - anything - it can directly be subtracted from the 5/6 hours I get. Its scary.

Goodday ,

First Biz Quiz

We had our first Biz Quiz among IIM-Iites here. It was a maiden experience for lot of us, and most of us weren't there for 'winning' per se, but to find how things work. And some supposed-genious sometime back said participation is more important than winning.

There was a initial short-list written test, which was basically an elimination round. Six groups of 3 were selected for the finals. Written test questions were both of the tough kinds with the easy ones (Infys caption etc) interspersed. The quiz per se consisted of question rounds, audio-visual rounds etc.

And guess what? The group consisting of Chandoo, Whencool, Jamster (all PG ids) barged into the final round after the tie breaker, and went on to secure the joint first prize along with the seniors. Kudos to these guys. 😃

It was fun throughout, especially the audience questions which were rewarded with chocolates. 😃

hi guys i am new here, congrats to all ya guys, hopin that u guys will once in a while drop hints to how to get into the IIMs to this poor CAT aspirant : .
seeya guys.(pls keep up the good work )

already govar has written quite a lot abt life here.. one more thing.. i personally being a foodie.. quite like the food here.. gr8 food .. tastes good and of quite a variety .. wonder how many other instis can boast of sucha thing!

ciao

pawz

wat say pawan has almost done all the talkin on the food .. itsreally is amazing and that too its almost like a treat everyday.. and the campus whoo.. got to walk around only yesterday.. man these guys have jus sloshed money nythin like that around the place.. its so hugeeee... the entire acad block is shaped like an horse shoe..or rather 3/4ths of a circle... and the center of the horse shoe is crisscrossed with paths and grass that one will jus fall asleep there.. the climate abs rocks dunno how long it stays this way but i suppose it would never have crossed 32 34 at the max.. that too comin from madras i feel i m at a resort.. 😛

well save for the studies where they jus squeeze the hell out of u .. they follow the case methodology of teachin..( which i dun have to say ) .. it sounds real fun... cases where a wife cheats on her hubby ...so do i need add more...its fun and the group works are awesome what with each one of us chasin group mates with our sms es... adn then barging in the midle of the nite to the nite canteens for maggi and what not... and then rushin to classes at 858 with one hand full of sandwiches and bag on our shoulders.. quite a few of them r turnin sprint champs...

what more do i need to add...well the others will chip in...

whencool

Hey there people,

First of all HELLO AGAIN, it s been a long time since i ve posted here and it feels great to be back. Since all the doods, ie, Govar, Whencool, etc have taken it upon themselves to keep all of u informed about the goings on at IIM Indore, i m not gonna repeat what they say.

Suffice to say that this place rocks and we need more like-minded people to make it rock even more !!!

Informal groups such as the Tam Boyz group has not been discussed here, so here goes. First of all PGP 1 has around 14 Tams (direct and hybrid ones) and PGP 2 has around 12 Tams. That makes it a motley crowd of 26 Tams (more than enough for Rajni, i suppose). All of us went out one nite to enjoy some good Idli Vada Sambar and Thaeer Saadam (curd rice, for all u non Tams reading this). Awesome fun, especially the ride back on the Agra-Bombay expressway.

Signing off for now, coz gotta rush to classes in some time.

Cheers..........JAM

Some more updates.

Life sounded real cool this week. After the first week where we all were made to slog (asssignment submissions, quizzes etc), this week brought in the 'optional' perspective.

Acad life:
We still have this pre-class preparation, surprise quizzes, cold calls etc... but then, we all are relatively left with ample time to utilize/waste.
I'm coming to believe that even after 100 pages of material to read, some class reading etc, one can always get a comfortable sleep of 6 to 7 hrs, if one *tries*. Its all in the time management. As someone mentioned in the IIM-B or L thread (i forget which), its become like a to keep oneself awake till 3/4 in the morning.

Acad nightmares:
One word: Accounts. Many of us are not understanding the heads and tails of accounts. And people say 'it' hasn't even started. It keeps the inner alarm tingling, near the danger mark.

And yeah, the unforgettable Human R. I've always believed that its the practice that makes HRs, and the course underlines it. To quote a line - the definition of human values:
basic convictions that specific mode of conduct or end state of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or converse state of conduct or end state of existence.
[ Pls tell me what exactly it means 😞 ]
I guess this sums it all. The language is as pompous and useless as it can get. Now which is tough - HR or accounts?

Misc:

There are also some routine weekly analysis events, caricature contests, caption contests etc... I'm yet to venture into any of those.
And yeah, on the misc front, as jamster mentioned, we had the tams meet some 3 days back. Was a real blast! I now know the value of Mama's Idli. :)

Quizzes:
Plus, the quiz team comprising of jamster, Mango and whencool again made it to the top-3, this time in the general quiz. Two consecutive wins, I guess they are THE quizzers in our batch.

Food:
Some people like the food here. My say is: its ok. It isn't great, and it isn't bad either. Less variety, and very less South Indian food. Maybe people who are very used to Chappathi and its combos find it very good.

Movies:

We get pretty much a huge list in our LAN. Managed to watch Kill Bill2, Last Samurai and Schindlers list in the last 2 days. Oh yeah! this is where the better part of my time goes! ;-)

Physical act.:
We waste (?) a lot of time these days in Volley, TT, Basketball etc. Somehow I find all this very addictive, particularly when compared to the other option - studies. The Gym is fundu too.. altho I've just been there once.

The post's already long... pushing off...

What abt the Chicks ?
