Puys,
Would really appreciate it if we get some more posts on this thread as it wud be really helpful for MBA aspirants like me to get an idea about the kinds of profiles offered after passing out of diverse B-schools.

Though I am not an MBA myself I pretty much know what MBAs do specifically in IT. So let me know if there are any questions you have on that. I am happy to answer.

Typically in IT there are just a few broad roles:

1. Business Analysts

2. Consulting esp in enterprise software (ERP, SCM, CRM etc)

3. Project management

4. Business Development/Presales

5. Product Management

6. Product/Corporate Marketing

7. Center of Excellence (CoE) - mostly for various organizational needs such as quality, metrics, training etc.

Check out this post on my blog Lucifer House Inc.: The Kollywood way : A new employee's management lessons

for a taste of what possibly can await a MBA grad in a new well paying general management job. Of course I have used some creative license to make it an interesting read. But the general idea is true.

Hi all,

Just wondering why is this thread so silent ... This is what shows the real picture of life after MBA .. So guys post your profiles/work you do which helps people in making some informed decisions regarding MBA . especially this year profiles... which gives a better perspective on what of kind of roles people land up during such an environment ...

Regards,
Arvind

Hi all, I've a query. What is more important . Scores in MBA level ? or pre MBA level . Suppose a candidate has below 60 % in HS level (10+2) otherwise decent grades? Will that candidate face problems in getting a job after mba ?

This is the wrong thread for this query. Anyway the answer is : people with 3+ years work experience don't even write 10th or 12th marks in the CV. Freshers usually write it. But you can choose to leave it out. I doubt if they would ask about it in the interview. If you have brilliant marks in 10th or 12th (school topper, board rank etc,) then mentioning it on CV is big plus.

Dude,
Now that yoou know the college u are going...go to the college or contact the students or other relevant people and try to find out which companies come and prefer which specializations...also what someone with your profile would be offered in terms of profile and packages...

Make a notebook..write all that you get from all sources for one specialization in one page ...and in the end after 10-15 days of RnD compare the and decide... Also one way is go to orkut and try finding the group for your college and then check the members of this group..you get all your alumini here...whatever numbers, mail ids available ...reach them and get their view.... thats it...all the best
