I am pleased to start the thread for the aspirants of Nanyang MBA intake for 2011. I am a part of the current MBA batch at Nanyang Business School and I will be pleased to answer your queries which would assist you with the admissions process and the MBA @ Nanyang.

I request not to put across any profile evaluation questions since I would not be able to answer that.

Hi,

I would not be able to give you an evaluation on the profile as I am not a part of the admission department but I would strongly suggest you to apply since Nanyang evaluates the profile of the individual on the whole.

I am yet to write the Gmat and toefl.

I would like to apply for the round 1

IS work experience very important. Though I did BE comp sci (2005 completed)

i worked for 8 months in Enterprise solutions

After that a long gap and now for a year been doing online shop business

Generally how do you rate such applications

I have not taken part in any org, volunteering or any such activites.

I would like to do business mainly.
BE - 75%
class 12 - 96%
class 10 - 88%

@ Sayantan - well ur profile looks good and I would encourage you to apply. Strategy is a strong area of concentration at Nanyang if you are looking into consulting. Nanyang rates a candidate by the overall profile and what added value you bring to a very diverse class of students.

@ CheckEETS - well I dont know about NUS but I was not interested in applying there once I made it to Nanyang coz that was my first choice here in Singapore. All I can say is I am pleased with what I am being offered at Nanyang in terms of what I sought from my MBA so far and much more.

@deziremba - I think its the overall profile which counts and well if you do have things you learned in the online shop business and add value to the class ... it works. There is a vast range of Students in this batch with respect to Nationalities, Age, GMAT, Work Ex, and Sectors.... everyone is unique and has a different added value to the class

@CheckEETS - Prefer to reply here than PMS. Well it is about what are your goals and expectations from the MBA. Nanyang offer the flexibility of going for Exchange and expanding your networking to other places and maybe seeking opportunities there or staying back here and fortifying your position here. Its a personal opinion. As far as the credits are concerned u have to finish the same number of credits and both schools are at Par at reputation and quality. So its a matter of personal choice

Well what to do .... limited options ( Some schools not fitting into profile and some unfit for pocket 😃

On the other hand , we just need one one seat each.

Btw any chance you applying to Canadian B schools? ( speculating since you said our college list matches 😛 )

Here goes my queries:
1. What is the pedagogy followed at Nanyang.
2. How are the accomodation facilities? Especially for people having spouse.
3.How do students network with perspective Employers. I mean is it that there are networking opportunitites thorughout the year or is it limited to few months ?
4. Hows the job market holding up there for Indians? (especially sectors like Strategy and International Business)
