Dear Narinder,

you have a competitive profile. But, as far as GMAT score is concerned, until last year, a valid GMAT score was used (good for 5 years). But, for this year, it may be different. You need to wait until the formal application process begins in March, that will list out the eligibility criteria.

Hello Rahul,

GMAT score is just one of the elements in the admission process. There are many other factors which are considered such as, your academic records, Quality of work experience, extra curricular, contribution(s) by you to society, work place etc..

Hello Akshay,

You seem to have a very good work experience, which is certainly your competitive advantage. Also, if you have good amount of extra curricular activities listed in your profile, then, together these two things will try to balance upon your XAT score.

However, just a thought for you. You can apply to SPJIMR even if you have not written GMAT until August. Your GMAT scores will have to be submitted by August. You have plenty of time. If YOU are not comfortable with your XAT scores, may be you can try writing GMAT and see whether you can it make up.

Hi Vikas,

Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it....

I have heard that S P Jain has a liking for engineers, is it true?

Also what would be the split between engineers and non engineers in the current batch?

Abhishek

Hi Abhishek,

It would not be appropriate to generalize that SPJIMR has liking for engineers. It depends upon the profile of applicants, number of applications per year and the Macro economic conditions.

This year we have 5% of participants from non engineering background. IMO, it really does not matter what stream you are from as long as you can present your case to the interview panel.

If you have good academics, extra curriculars, work experience, then even a non-engineer stands equal chance for admission.

Hope it helps.

Hi Vikas,

I am confused about the start date of the course. Has the admissions for 2011 closed?
As per my understanding application happens in July and Interviews in Aug. When will the course start in Jan?

Well below is my profile please suggest if I stand a good change.
Exp:5 years of IT exp by Oct 2011.

12th: 74 %
10th: 68%

Have implemented SAP ERP with domestic clients like Glenmark and Mazagone Docks (Public secotr). Managed a Team of 3-5 for other support projects. Extracurricular activities : (To be honest) There is nothing significant, but I am sure I can make up for it.

Admissions for 2011 are closed. We are talking of admissions for 2012. Classes for 2012 batch will begin from Jan, 2012, though the web-learning module will begin from October 2011.

The application process for 2012 intake will start from this (april) month end. You can write GMAT before August and submit the score to institute.

Your work experience seems to be rich compared to your past academic record. As far as extra curriculars are concerned, if you don't have one so far, you can start at least now. B-Schools look for a well rounded personality.

Hope it helps
