Here is a new thread for discussions related to Rotterdam School of Management Jan 2012 admissions. I gave my interview in Blore today. it was with Markype Steenkamp. Anybody who has given/yet to give their interviews please share your experiences with us.

My interview went like this.

First I had to give my three minute elevator pitch to her explaining what value would i bring to the in class environment at Rotterdam. I was filmed during the entire duration of the pitch as well.

After that there was the flurry of regular questions Why do you want to quit and take up an International MBA, what do u expect to gain from the classmates at rotterdam, what would u give back, detail your experiences working with people from other countries, how do you percieve their culture, how do u think they percieve your culture, Why did u take up IT, detail your responsibilities at work, what kind of a leader are you at work, what disappoints u the most in your career so far,

Then there were some questions like If you were in my shoes what are the questions that you would ask the candidates, what is the one change that you would like to bring about around you today, who is the most influential person in ur life, if your academics had no relevance to your career what profession would you like to be in,
and i had the chance to ask her questions

She made me feel very comfortable during the interview. It was scheduled for half hour but it went on for a good 45 minutes.

It would be great if others could share their experiences with all of us.

Hi RagaVoichal,

Even I had my interview today at Taj, Bangalore.
It was very, very similar to how you described your experience. Except for a few questions here and there. I was told that the adcom will sit at the end of February and I should receive a final decision not later than first week of March.

Friends,

Had a very similar experience as posted in the thread here, although I had my interview with Maryke on the 4th Feb @ Mumbai.
The questions were almost the same with some, like biggest dissapointment in your career, how did u get involved in adventure sports etc.
It seems she has a set of standard questions she is throwing at each candidate which could help her make a comparision between them. The interview went for around 40 mins and was comfortable on a whole.

BTW has any1 of you met her earlier. I happened to meet her once in one of the round table sessions conducted by the MBA Tour back in early 2009. I was utterly surprised that she mentioned that we had met before!!

Waiting for a response around 1st week of March.

In the same boat!

Interviewed on 7th here at Delhi! Nearly the same questions, with little changes here and there! Quite casual and friendly! Could break the ice with her pretty easily, she actually asked if there is pressure to get married on me! :P

Same timeline for decision!

Profile is very different, as I am a non-IT applicant with a not-so-attractive GMAT score.

Fingers crossed! 😃

Hey Guys,

Even I am planning to apply to RSM by mid-March for the Jan'12 intake. Would it be a little late to apply ?

Also, if anyone of you has been in touch with any alumni of the school, can you please share the views/feedback from them. Especially regarding the acceptance of RSM graduates by the companies in Europe and alumni strength across various sectors that we can network with to enhance our job prospects. Reason I am asking this is because of the various posts I have read regarding a very weak Career Services Cell at RSM and not good recognition for the graduates. Although, have read only posts on forums by various people and hence can't really bank upon the authenticity.

hi gabriel... rotterdam is a good school... academics wise...

any school abroad... the career services does not do much.. unlike in india...

all the networking has to be from the student's side... so.. there is no 0th hour, 1st hour placements even in the top 1-2 schools in europe...

but within three months of graduation... and with one's own networking.. you do land up good jobs..

so it is a choice u will have to make...

:shocked: You've got to be kidding me! You're having doubts between SPJ Dubai/Sing and RSM?!!
On campus Job placement is only a part of the MBA benefit basket, and RSM is not THAT much behind in that department as well. The brand name itself carries a lot of weight...You get to do your MBA only once, please decide wisely.
