Hi,
Please let me know whether there are any chances of applying with a GMAT 640 , provided the other factors of the application are good.

Hi Puys.. Good to see this thread open..Here is my profile..
GMAT - 720, (But I didnot get a good score in IR - it is 5)
Work ex: 8 years by Mar 2014. ( in IT service delivery)
Onsite work ex : Close to 4 years..
Current role.. Incident manager and managing a teamsize of 11
Acads are decent..
83% -> Btech, 95% - 12th and 85% - tenth standard..
I also started to work in pre-sales activities and helped to get some bids for my company..
And I got few awards as well at my company..
Could not participate in extra-curricular activities or NGO activities as I was away from India most of the time.. not sure how important this is..
Got some certifications such as ITIL, Oracle etc., and planning to go for PMP this year..
Pls can experts evaluate my profile and help me in building this up further.
@reviliant hi!
i think you want hear that 640 is a good score-would be, if there was a stellar CV and an equally good application/essays attached to it.
@mbaprep2015
in my personal opinion it is a good profile.
however, it will depend on how you project it, present it-if your essays and application justify want of time and as such lack of extra curricular it might help
PMP would definitely be an added bonus i will also ask the others in my batch to guide you further

@saurabhathakar Hi.. what is the min. experience required. for admission to the program?
@GMAT_Conquer 5 years, having said that its not only the number that will do the trick
@saurabhathakar Thanks Saurabh.. Pls check and let me know if there are any other ceritifications which can be done to boost the chances..

@mbaprep2015 - The Adcom looks at the holistic profile of the candidate. There is no 'perfect' formula to guarantee a admission. How you can add to the diversity and experience of the entire group is what they look at. You have a overall good acad and GMAT score and I am unsure if any other certification, just couple of months before the application deadline would make any material difference.
I would recommend that you start putting up a rough summary of your strengths and achievements over the last decade and try to bring forth events highlighting traits like leadership and team work among others. There are lot of things you can highlight like recognition and appreciation from your employer (by way of promotion, awards), special acknowledgement from clients, recognition for training and grooming your juniors, Conflict-resolution abilities and some special projects to highlight your domain expertise, among others. These are some example and not a exhaustive list and there are numerous ways you can do that. People generally showcase extra curricular activity to highlight some additional traits not captured earlier and there are different ways you can do that. For NGO part, If you have participated in some of your employer corporate social responsibility, you can mention that but don't fret too about it, it's not a mandatory condition !! :)
@mbaprep2015 - Overtime we will help you get touch-base with people having similar profiles, both in current and previous batches. Also we will be arranging 'PGPEXplain' across some cities, where you can interact with the member of adcom, professors and alums.
@fAUXPASS Thanks for the feedback. I think that's what i will do now.. sit back and think and come up with my strengths and how to depict them in essays..

Jot them down and see how to fit them in..

PGPEXplain would be an awesome initiative and will help people like me.. thanks again for all the support and help..

Hi Seniors,

Thanks for the initiative, some queries. as 5 batches of PGPEX are done, is there any idea when PGPEX is planning to participate in FT rankings?
One more question regarding accreditions: as per last year's discussions, PGPEX was contemplating on applying for accreditions, could that happen or is the program participating this year? do you have any update on that? Please enlighten us..
BTW, saw a PGPEX professor on GMAC website so at least branding has begun for the exclusive PGPEX batch..kudos for that:)

regards

2 queries:
1. IIMC is 7 batch old now for one year MBA, do you know when will IIM C participate in FT rankings?
2. Last year, IIM C was contemplating for accreditions, do you know if accredition was completed from any of the institute or when is it planned?

kind regards

Its based upon the date of submission. If cut-off date is in July then fine, else no.

Do go for applications this year though

Hi,

Thanks for coming out for help I have 8 yrs of work ex in financial software domain and recently acquired the role of Tech Product Mgr. I have been managing 3 people. I have already given my GMAT (720) and as I was about to apply to IIM's and ISB for executive program I spoke to a couple of ISB and IIM passouts and it seems MBA so late in the career might not be such a good idea. It has left me confused.
My goal is to move away from current tech intensive role to non-tech role, preferably Biz development or Product Management. I would be open to Program Mgmt and Consulting too.

1. My fear is is this investment worth it? Attempting for the role change without an MBA or with an MBA - which would be a better option?
2. My current salary is quiet decent (early 20s). Can I expect to start with at least this salary level after IIMC?
3. After discussion with a number of ISB/IIM passouts, it seems the only places I should at all consider are IIMA/B/C and ISB. However everyone has put ISB as a risky proposition. How would you rank these four keeping my profile n goals in mind? It seems others like IIML, IIMI, XLRI and SP Jain are for out of the list for me.

Please shed some light.

Cheers !!

Lokesh
