Hi Soumik

I am a Chartered Accountant and a Company Secretary from India and currently purusing level III of the CFA course. I have secured an admit from CEIBS and I am looking at working in the financial services sector in Shanghai/ Hongkong post MBA. More specifically, I would want to work in the private equity/ venture capital industry. In this regard, it would be extremely helpful if you could throw some light on how the placements at CEIBS have looked like in the recent past, especially for non natives like me. Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

@CEIBSadmissions :Welcome to PG, Roy. A need for official thread of CEIBS was long felt at PG with increasing popularity amongst Indian applicants. Though alumni/current students had been holding the fort quite well here but getting one's queries satiated from senior member of AdCom himself takes it to another level. Thanks for your time and energy and hope fellow PG community members, interested in CEIBS program, make full use of the opportunity.

P.S. : I am a CEIBS-MBA(FT) 2013 batch admit. Looking forward to see you in June/July.

Hi Soumik.

A couple of questions for you:

1. I have secured an admit for the 2013 intake but the email I received doesn't talk about scholarship. It does say that I will soon receive an official letter with detailed information so is it fair to expect anything positive in the second correspondence?

2. Could you please shed some light on the International Exchange program and how it works.

3. How long does it typically take to learn the basics on Mandarin?

I look forward to hearing from you.. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Prashanth

Hi Soumik/Everyone,

I have secured an admit to the 2013 MBA program at CEIBS.
This is a great place to get to know others who will be joining CEIBS this year.

Would love to know have the answers for the questions posed by Prashanth above.

Looking forward to your reply!

Ananth

Hi Puys,

Please mark @CEIBSadmissions for your queries.

Post the interview was told that the results for R2 would be out by the 18th of Mar. Can we expect it today @CEIBSadmissions ?

Sure, most of the results have already been rolled out, the remaining should be sent by mid-week. Best of luck!

Hi Pranshanth,

1) In your initial mail if you did not recieve a message regarding a scholarship, it means I am afraid you did not recieve a CEIBS Scholarship. Nevertheless if you applied to external company sponsored scholarships, then it will take a bit more to be notified.

2) For exchange we have this year more than 120 positions available, that means that almost all who want to go on an exchange can go. Nevertheless some schools are more competitive than others which means that final selection is based on 1- GPA during the first two terms of the year 2- Essay . This year we have more than 30+ top tier schools on offer including new entrants INSEAD, and Berkely.

3) Mandarin. Learning the basics you are expected to learn duing our 1 month Mandarin immersion in June. Proficiency depends on you - of course don't expect to be fluent at the end of the 18 months, as most of your time will be spent studying finance, marketing, etc 😃

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi,

I have secured an admit to the 2013 MBA program at CEIBS. Wanted to connect to more people from Delhi who intend to start this year at CEIBS. Also could you help me with the student loan options available for Indian students apart from Credila? Also wanted to know the approximate expenses one looks at apart from tuition. @CEIBSadmissions

Congrats buddy.. My name is Prashanth and I live in Delhi as well. I have PM'd you my contact number so hit me up when you get a chance. I am also in the process of arranging for funds so I'm glad that you raised this question. I spoke to the student ambassador at length and learnt quite a bit about life at CEIBS. I would be more than happy to share what I know when we talk..

I look forward to talking to you.. Cheers!

@saggarwal Congratulations. Indeed our only formal collaboration is with Credila for loans, but we encourage you to find other local banks who may offer student loans. I am sure Prashanth will know more about that than myself.

We have several other candidates who were accepted. I will be glad to send you their info if you send me an email to -- [email protected]

Best of luck - Roy

@CEIBSadmissions Would request you to provide some feedback on my earlier query. Thanks!

@ajayg1984, The China PE and VC sector is huge, with amazing potential. Nevertheless it is quite a "local" industry and usually highers those with high proficiency in the Mandarin Language. We have other international students working in VC - PE, and in fact one of them who is Indian made a career switch from a sailor to working for a local PE firm, without Mandarin proficiency. But he was head of our Finance club and made extraordinary efforts to do so. Indeed to for non-native speakers who want to go into Finance and who don't hold a special skill or experience finding those opportunities maybe tricky. I recommend you be flexible enough in also seeking opportunities in Hong Kong (every year we have a Career Trek for our students to HK, and have built a platform of contacts in the territory) and also consider returning to India and working with companies who have important activity in China.

To sum up - there are possibilties but you have to be flexible and proactive on your job search.

Hope that answers your question.

@CEIBSadmissions - I would like to pose a similar question, but for a different profile. I have 3 years Work Ex. in the IT Service Industry in India. My aim is to continue in the IT industry after completing the MBA program at CEIBS. How feasible/realistic is this aim? Are there any such examples that you could share with me?
Your inputs would help a great deal in setting my expectations and aid in my preparation.
