I have got 2+ years of experience in IT sector and working in MNC.
Please tell me the scope of MIS in US and in Europe, which Institute would be good. Please tell me whether my IT experience will get counted if i will go for MIS and what is the minimum GMAT score required ?

The best MIS programs in the US are MIT, University of Texas Austin, Case Western Reserve University and Carnegie Mellon University. These "best" Universities have some of the worlds most renoun MIS faculty teaching there.

Second tier may be the University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Georgia Tech and University of Maryland at College Park.

Indiana University and New York University are good in MIS as well.

With only 2 years of experience, the "best" programs may be a stretch. But if you do well on the GMAT (over 700) I would think you would have a shot at any of the above.

If you get between a 650 and a 700 on your GMAT, I would still apply at some of the better programs such as Michigan and Maryland. And possibly even Case Western and Texas.

Hi
I have a question. right now am doing MS in Computer Science.
I am planning to do MIS after this and i will be giving my GMAT in JAN 09.
Can u let me know what would be the best score and is experience a mandatory to do MIS?

Hey ,

I guess a good GRE score is also good enough parameter to be considered in the ivy league schools for MIS programme.

hi,

I believe syracuse at new york is also a good option if your scores are low.

And I also have a query. After completing MIS does one remains a techy or gets shifted to management. And if one does gets shifted to management is the job completely bereft of any technology ?
Thnx

Guys.

Need some suggestions.
MBA in India as a fresher or MIS from USA. Really confused

The two are not even related, brother...
I know it's cliched, but that's like comparing apples and onions. If I ask you, which is better among the two, does it make sense?

I feel the MBA bandwagon of India is an unstoppable juggernaut, where folks join a college with no plans, goals and expectations. All they see is the mythical 10+ lakh salaries, they would get post MBA.

So if you haven't done your homework regarding what you want out of an MBA, where and in what function you'd like to see yourself 5/10 years into the future, then I would sincerely recommend you don't enter a foriegn land and spend upwards of 25 lakh doing MIS. India has many awesome instis nowadays, and what's more, almost all the good Indian MBAs pretty much come with job placement guarantee!

You don't need a GMAT for MIS.
Colleges accept GRE scores as well.

Hi,

I am looking for some good colleges offering MIS other than US too.
Can you help?

Hi All,

Please advice me as to which all universities i should target for applying. Have been working for 1.5 years in an IT firm and 6.98 CGPA for Btech (E& CE).
