Can u plz elaborate on the JOB prospects both in US and INDIA after Hult..

What is the average GMAT and workex for Hult.......

regards
Pankaj

hi,

yes u can avail loan from MEFA, but i think u need a U.S co signor for that.
regarding scholarships, the fee earlier was $40000 but now they hav reduced it to $22500.
so you will be given an automatic scholarship if u join this aug.
having said that, if u get above 700 in GMAT , u can seriously bargain.....
total cost for you guys shall be $22500=fees + 3500=pre mba+8000 living.
take a budget of $36000

the GMAT required is not very high. if you are over 600, guess u will make it,
but they like people with high work exp.

some statistics about our class are as under.

total students=69
nationalities represented=23
average GMAT=590-600
average age=30
age range= 22-47
faculty=A grade

some information regarding the institue and other e.t.c is as under;

actually this is a very old school. it was formerly known as the arthur d little school of management. the faculty of the school can be compared to the best.
the economics professor is a senior partner with Arthur D little and is Phd from cornell.
the finance prof is CPA+MBA+BA+doctroate from harvard.
the accounts prof is MBA from Stern, formelry with Citibank and is widely published.
the H.R prof is Harvard grad and is consultant to IBM.
the other fin prof is on the board of harvard.

the course content and the methodolgy of instruction is impressive,
we have 11 indian students in the current batch,
one guy was G.M at siemens,
one was project manager at TCS,
one is a CA and was deputy manager at Indo Rama,
one is a Phd from singapore,

one guy from japan will join back as partner
one guy from korea has an offer for V.P
again the list is long.....

regarding Boston, it is one of the most amazing places i have seen,
and again it is close to NYC also,

regarding the shortcomings,

the students are very diverse,
from countries like vietnam to japan to mexico to philipines...
hence the students are not that competitive......

regarding the infrastructure.....
the institue does not have its library,
but at the same time u are given a libarary card and u can access 18 libraries all over
boston including those of MIT and BU e.t.c
the college is very small and operates from EF building.( they will be shifting to a bigger campus in a short while).
the career servies cell has nothing to offer....
u hav to be on your own to get a job.

thanx

I was browsing the hult website and saw this info in the finaid section -
Hult also as an exclusive relationship with Erika Finance, a loan program set up specifically for international students who do not have access to a US-based co-signer. Rates are fixed at 5% over five years.
Hi Sumit,
Hult is ranked by EIU , but does not feature in BW and FT ...i know rankings do not give the full picture ...i am just posting for info....i read that placement cell has nothing to offer .....can you tell me what % age of u r (Indian) senior batch got a job offer in US....
Tx again u r post is of gr8 help.

I am terribly interested in Hult. I know what I will learn and what I won't. What scares me is the job prospects after that. I really cannot imagine investing 20lakhs and having to worry about my job. From what I have heard (known) most people go back to their respective countries to get a job. Since anyways they bring in rich experience with them, this 1 year international exposure gives them value for money. But for a desi guy coming back to India is a risky proposition anyday.

My profile: Male/IT/6yrs/700

Arun

dear friends,

right now the institute is ranked only by EIU.
it was ranked 22nd best in the world and is considered as the most international b school.
FT would be ranking hult this year.

arun has rightly ponted out the fact that most of the students frm hult go back to their respective countries. we have with us a lot of japenese, korean and european students, who have no intention of staying in U.S. The implication is that the alumni of Hult is scaterred around the world.

now placements is a tricky part. regarding our senior batch, one guy has gone back to India. i think he is placed between 15 to 20 lacs.

the rest are still searching......

there was 1 guy from the previous batch. he was placed at $120000.

havinng said that it is both funny and surprising that after graduating from hult people generally do well...two of our alumni are in india. One is in a senior position with infosys and the other is the executive diector in tata.

i now everybody has a lot of concern abt placements. so the trick is to start early.
the moment you join hult, in 6 months time start your job search.
moreover hult has also expanded their career services network, which should be helpful.
and ofcourse i will get in touch with my seniors and giv you all the detals abt the placements and the rest.

regarding loan, you can avail it from erica finance also.

regards,

Sumit

tx for info the dude .....keep us posted....ya the trick is to start early ...this is the second time i have come across this line ....my frnd in canada also said the same thing....will have stamp it in my brain...

Hi Sumit,

I looked at the website and it seems that the cost of pursing MBA is much higher than you suggested. The fees + other expense comes to around $50K. Please comment on this as you would be in a better position to comment on this. Also how are the people managing to get Jobs without a career service ?

Regards

hi rpj,

u r both right and wrong as well,

ur tution fee would be app $26000.
rest is all living expenses,
my living expenses are around $700 a month,
so i assumed the same for u,
but in case u r bringing ur family,
ur exxpenses are much higher,
or if u are staying in a spearate appart, the exp are higher,

otherwise in no scenario, ur expenses would exceed than what i have already mentioned,
and ofcourse in the web site, they always put the expenses as per their standards.....

so dont worry,
in case u r coming,
jump in the flight,
u can stay at my appart :)

thanx

Hi Sumeet,

I hv 10 yrs of work exp. My GMAT is 640. I was looking for 1 yr MBA course, applied to Hult and have got selected there. Now I have to give them my confirmation of acceptance offer. However, your msgs hv made me confused. I'm really worried abt the placements that u say r not good for Hult.

Do u mean that there r no campus interviews and all students have to search for jobs on their own? That is scary!!! How soon does students normally get jobs after Hult. The college website says that almost 90% students are placed within 3 months of graduation. Is that true? If yes, then is it only bcos students hv made their own arrangements???

Pl rep to me urgently as my decision of giving acceptance to Hult now hangs midway!!!

Regards.

call me on 781-874-9123,

we will talk in detail,

Hi zazzydude, I am in the same predicament as yours. Now what is holding me back is the fear of no job placement upon graduation from Hult.. This is the reply (portion of it) I got from Director of Recruiting of Hult:

"Last year more than 90% of Hult graduates had secured jobs within 3 months of graduation. Typically the remaining students are company-sponsored, and return to their previous employee, start their own businesses, or pursue additional education, such as PhD.

Our alumni have been hired by leading multinational companies and global development organizations in a wide range of sectors including financial services, consulting, manufacturing, and marketing. Recruiters recognize the School as a leading international business program to recruit global managers. We reach out to companies that interest our current student body (every year our students interests change, hence every year so do the companies that visit our school). (see placements for Alumni from 2004-2005)

While the majority of our graduates return to their home countries to work, the Career Services Office can help students who would like to remain in the US find appropriate work. This usually focuses on multinational companies based in the US who are looking for international candidates of high caliber. Leading multinationals, like PepsiCo, Frito Lay, Johnson and Johnson, AHold, have found our school to be an excellent source of job candidates as our program trains international business leaders. Last year, 47% of our student body chose to remain in the USA (see attached)."

Sumit, do you mind sharing what you told zazzydude. Thanks alot!

Hi sumit or zazzydude , can you share what did you talk about in detail?

Hey All, Sumit,

I am in the same boat as all of you. The difference is I am suppose to leave for teh Feb 2006 Semester to Hult in the next 8 Days. Sumit, I would love to hear about your expierince upto now and just get your contact information down so that I can get in touch with you oce I am there.

Zazzle are you going for Feb 2006 or Sep 2006?

Karan

guys,

let me clear your doubts.Hult is a very good school.it has an excellent faculty, people who are real time consultants and is the best school according to me for learning international management and to understand cross cultural teams. the study material, the faculty the teaching methodolgy is excellent. now regarding placements, apart from the top 10 colleges and a few others, the placements are not provided by the institute. i checked again the placement statistics for my senior batch and have the following information.
a couple of students have got placed in companies like caps gemini, bain consulting, kpmg,
british petroleum et.c. the real picture would become clear in march.(after 3 months of graduation). having the said that, i think if you start early, i think getting placed is not a problem in U.S. more over you have full one year in OPT to figure out the job. the best thing about the school is that you develop friends from all over the world and the faculty actually becomes yuor mentors in real life.

Hi Sumit,
Can you please tell what is the exact money I wud spend in terms of INR for the whole course and stay in HULT.

Thanks

IIMA

Hi Sumit, thanks for your reply. Pardon my ignorance, what is OPT? Also, I notice you include the pre MBA Tool in the total cost (fr ur prior post). Is it compulsory? It cost USD3800! My budget is very tight.. Lastly, would you know the details on taking a Erika loan (any max limit a student can borrow, simple/compound interest, interest on principal/outstanding loan, etc)? Thanks alot! Wish you a blazing career ahead after Hult!
