2.Does he have is incorrect

3.Does he have .......,....also needs -not parallel.

The correct sentence will be

"Not only does he have to kick some serious ass, but he also has to silence his inner demons and defeat an evil king."

Hi All, "If...then clause"...I am reading Manhattan sentence correction for this topic and at the end of the topic they have mentioned that one should never use "Should" in the If..then clause..is that true?? Isn't the sentence "If he is guilty, then he should be punished" correct?

  • The rule is that you should note never use "should" or an.... 1d.

should is used only for moral obligations....the sentence will be something like

 alternatively, if he is guilty,then he will be punished.

The rule is that you should note never use "should" or any other words (such as "will be" "would be") in the "If" portion of the clause.  I.e. you cannot say, "If he should be guilty, then so-and-so.".  

In the "then" portion, you can include those words.  However, it is recommended to use "should" only in cases in which moral obligation is implied.
