CONGRATS DUDE on your 710 score.
I too am preparing for my GMAT. I am finding difficulty in Data Sufficiency. Can you share the data sufficiency pdf that you referred or its details (file name, website link or google search title).
Regarding Verbal, since I don't have GMAT experience yet, I will share some tips my seniors & friends (one got a 750 score) advised me:
1. Of all verbal question types, Critical Reasoning seems to have greater weightage (maybe bcos that is a management trait BSchools value more). I have found "Manhattan Guide for CR" a good book with tips, strategies (like Diagramming) & classification of types.
2. For Reading Comprehension, one is needed to read the passage real fast. Normal Lewis's book "How to read Faster and Better" (especially initial 4-5 chapters) is considered best for this.
3. During exam, scribbling keywords in Scrap Book is better than relying on short-term memory.
4. Regularly read newspaper (news articles for CR and newspaper editorials for RC). My 750 scorer friend says that generally the language used in verbal q's is identical to newspaper language and not the type of language we speak or read in novels or blogs.

Hope these tips help you get a better score in your next attempt and then admission into a B School of your dreams.

Thanks a ton dude. You can find it in esnips. Also check out this blog GMAT Preparation Guide . Loads of useful stuff. good luck with your preparation.

and in Verbal 27Right and 14Wrong

Somehow i think the score i got was not correct ? any thoughts ?

The CAT algorithm is shrouded in secrecy. You can at best predict how it works. The bottom line is it rewards you more if you get tougher questions right as compared to getting easier questions right. As for the Kaplan test , don't bother with the score. Just use it to gauge your performance on a correct : incorrect basis. I never managed to score above 670 in the Kaplan test whereas i was regularly scoring above 700 in the Gmatprep. Also comparatively i guess the princeton test also gives you a better picture.

plz let me knw all the material u had gone through in Quant and Verbal to get 710.

Thnks dude. I appeared for the test in Kolkata. For Quant i referred OG11 , OG12 and Kaplan Premier. I had also downloaded a pdf containing lots of data sufficiency problems. I guess my cat preparation had prepared me for the quant section. !!

I always wanted to take a shot at gmat. I started gathering study material in April. Work pressure was keeping me away from books. So i decided to book my slot. That was an impetus to slog during the weekends. I started off with OG11. Then proceeded on to Kaplan Premier and finally moved on to OG12. I also referred a couple of pdf's, especially SC1000 (i managed to solve only 300 out of 1000 problems) and manhattan SC. Quant has always been my strong point so i targeted only the data sufficiency part. I found DS a bit tricky though as it throws a few surprises if you are not very careful.
Although my score doesn't put me in a pedestal to advise you guys on cracking gmat, I would say put that extra effort into VERBAL. I repeat "VERBAL" is the key to crack gmat. A good verbal score can suffice for an average quant score and pull up your average score , but the vice-versa absolutely doesn't hold good. I am not in mood to analyse where i went wrong in verbal, so taking a week off from studies. I am planning to focus only on VERBAL henceforth and appear again in GMAT. I guess our Verbal champs can help me out !!!

Hi all,

I appeared in GMAT yesterday and managed to score 710. It was the culmination of one and a half months of preparation. To be honest though,i had put in serious prep only towards the end. Verbal proved to be my Achilles' heal.
I am giving serious thoughts to writing the exam again as i am keen on applying to chicago booth, columbia and isb. ( im a big-time optimist :cheerio:). I have a decent profile. I have 2 years of work ex, average acads and excellent extra curriculars. I am kinda depressed with my score and would like to substantially improve it. I know its easier said than done, but am willing to slog my a off. I am feeling a little burned out and @ complete loss as to how to proceed further. Any kind of in formulating a strategy would be most welcome.

P.S - I am flying down to delhi to attend the QS Top MBA fair. Hope to meet you guys there..
