Hey,

Count me in too.. I will be applying to Gtech for same reasons as yours.. (especially the third one!!!)
Read the posts from last year applicants n there is just one concern (as of now) - the admission decisions came in very late from GTech. There weren't any fixed decision dates I suppose...

Me - an IT engineer (so proud of IT) 3 yrs work ex. 720 GMAT. rest as usual!!

Varun could you please share what other schools you are targeting.

Well, the graduate admissions office at gtech is a lil laidback and they DO NOT prefer students mailing them. Every school has its own way of managing things and so the same applies to gtech.

I applied to Gatech last week.. yeah, it's late.. Cursing myself for chilling since Kelley application. Waiting for one of my boss to fill out reco., all else is done or i hope so.

Did any of you manage to speak to a current student?
What is the procedure for the same. I cant find any student contact info in their site. Is there any other means of discussing the program with some one related to the program (students/faculty/adcom members?)

well that is one thing even I'm tryin to figure out..there is mental guy in last year gtech's thread. he does not seem to reply to any of the posts now...though he was quite active last year...in case u guys get hold of somebody just pass on the info

btw, i was hoping to finish my app by Dec 15th. Is it LATE by any standard ?

I know a current student in second year at Gatech MBA. She hasn't got a job yet. She had 100% tuition waiver. She will be coming back to India soon to join back infy.

Isnt the deadline Jan 15th? Is there any earlier deadline that i have missed out on? I saw an earlier post in this thread where someone had already applied. just curious abt the deadlines.

Will your friend be willing to speak to prospective applicants ? i hope the college does not have a code of conduct which forbids interactions between students and applicants.

You are right.
The next deadline is Jan 15.
Fortunately Georgia Tech also has an option of submitting recos + GMAT score + Toefl score at a later date i.e before 15th March.

Anyway,
I am way too keen on applying at Georgia Tech. The college perfectly meeets my requirement of MBA in Operations.

My credentials are
Diploma + BE degree in Electronics
4 and half years of work exp - 1 year in Banking and 3 and half in Telecom.
I was previdged to work at BARC for 6 months internship
GMAT score 640

Need to know what are my chances of getting into this school.
I have got conflicting opinions.
A friend says the score is too less another says it is ok and you have good chance considering work exp, indian female etc

What do u think guys?

640 is a bit of a problem. but GPA + a strong application (essays) can negate that. i would say apply. especially since u can show a good fit as to why Georgia tech.

The website says so. The school will not review the app before getting these finance documents.

I don't think I would be able to get such documents before Jan 15th (or before an admit) - anyone in the same situation please share your plan of action...

Can u give a few more details about your friend who is coming back to India?
She was in infy before going for her MBA? How easy is it for a gtech mba to come back and look for job?

I am rethinking about applying due to same problem. If you have to apply then may be you can write to the school for this.

I have submitted my application and right now working on getting financial support doc ready ..here is what you can do
(there are four forms in the application, form1 asks if you need financial assistance , form3 asks "If you are not given financial assistance how much amount you have to support yourself over a period of two years, you need to specify two amounts for two years".

You need to show finanical support douments if

1) You have left unchecked the "need for financial assistance" option in form1 and specified the amounts in form 3.

2) You have checked the "need for financial assistance option" in form1 and have specified amounts in form3 which are greater than 0.

You dont need to show finanical support douments if

1)You have checked the "need for financial assistance option" in form1 and have specified amounts in form3 which are 0 for both the years.


When providing the doc for financial support , if you show that you will be able to support yourself for at least one year it should be fine.

or simply follow these steps , to avoid sending a financial support document

1) Check the option that says "need financical support " in form 1.

2)Specify 0 in "amount you can support yourself with" section in form 3 for both first year and second year.

Sending the financial support doucments if you dont have all the money

1) Check the option that says "need financical support " in form 1.

2) Show some amount say ( 5000 $s ) for first year in form 3 and send its proof. You only need to send proof of what you have specified in form 3.

hey,
The guys who have submitted the application- if they could help me with one query.

In the online application, just above the essay questions - it states " Each essay should be no longer than one typed page."
But in the essay questions it says " Space is limited to 4000 characters. " which is approx equal to 1000 words or approx 2-3 pages.

Which1 should i consider as the limit?

Since the deadline is just a few inches away, a quick response would be appreciated :)
